Instagram has removed a pro-life video that a popular social media influencer couple posted over the weekend, a move that comes as the video has spurred a big reaction from their followers.

The video, “Abortion. (documentary),” features the LaBrant family — husband Cole and wife Savannah, who together have over 10 million Instagram followers and 13 million YouTube subscribers —  seeking the truth about abortion by interviewing pro-life doctors, including one who used to perform abortions and doesn’t anymore, and women who opted not to get abortions.

In the video, the couple goes on a journey to better understand abortion by speaking with those who have experienced it firsthand. The LaBrants are careful to express that they’re not trying to vilify anyone who has had an abortion, but rather to provide hope for women experiencing unplanned pregnancies who feel alone. They include stories from real women in extreme situations who chose to have their babies, and one woman who had a child after taking an abortion pill that didn’t work.

The LaBrants draw special attention to the non-profit Embrace Grace, which aids women in crisis pregnancies and after them.

Cole shared an update in his Instagram story. He said, “Instagram did take our feed post down. This is ok, fortunately we have talked with our team at YouTube and they’re keeping the documentary up there, which is most important. They did demonetise and take the video out of the algorithm. Which is all ok, we assumed this would happen. The biggest thing this does is significantly reduce the video’s reach. The more people the video reaches, the more people who can find help. This makes it where you can really only watch the video if you have a link or go directly to our channel.”

“YouTube won’t further share it,” Cole continued. “At this point we’ll leave the message in Gods hands and trust that whoever is supposed to watch it, will watch it. You guys have supported this so much and we’re so thankful. If you feel lead, please share the documentary with people you know.”

Savannah shared some of the positive messages the couple has been getting from their fans, but there’s been a fair amount of backlash as well. One Twitter user expressed shock that the LaBrants compared abortion to the Holocaust.

“The LaBrant Family just uploaded a documentary comparing abortion to the Holocaust on their 13M sub channel lmfao what,” the user shared

“The LaBrant Family just ended their career by making an abortion documentary and they deserve the backlash they’re getting for the horrific things they said,” YouTuber JaclynGlenn shared in the caption of her reaction video

Despite all the negativity across social media, the YouTube video has 54,000 likes as of Monday. The comments are currently disabled. For now, their 38-minute video is still available on YouTube and has more than 2 million views. The couple says all ad revenue will be donated to local pregnancy centers.
