Veteran Republican strategist Ed Rollins told Fox News “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo and conservative activist Candace Owens that reports of an impending blue wave of Democrat Party victories in the November midterm elections have largely been exaggerated.
“There’s no blue wave out there,” he opined.
While discussing the alleged censorship of conservative voices on social media, Rollins pointed out that no other president has taken advantage of the digital platforms in the way that Donald Trump has been able to.
“He’s dominated the last two-and-a-half years,” Rollins said. “No president, no candidate has ever dominated the media, both the cable news, the social media, what have you. He understands it well. His people understand it well.”
Rollins explained, “And I think to a certain extent, they see it as a threat. Every day, people are sitting there waiting for his tweet to respond one way or the other. And if all of a sudden, it’s a one-sided game in which you stop the people who are supportive of him, then it’s not — it’s not fair and it’s certainly a violation of those people’s rights.”
Bartiromo asked, “What are you seeing in terms of the midterm elections?”
“Well, there’s a lot that is going to happen in the next 80 days,” he answered. “Historically, the last 21 midterm elections, the president’s party has lost … 30 seats and four Senate seats.”
“That’s not going to happen,” he predicted. “I will predict that right today.”
After acknowledging that the Republicans may lose a few Congressional seats, he said it will not be the sweep that the Democrats are expecting.
“There’s no blue wave out there,” he said. “The Senate, which we had big opportunities, have not turned out to be quite so. There’s probably five to eight Senate seats on both sides that are in play. I think we will hold the Senate, and I think we will hold the House.”
