Dems Attack GOP Rep For Calling Ocasio-Cortez ‘This Girl’. They’re Full Of It.

Democrats are feigning outrage over a GOP rep using the term “this girl” to describe their latest economically illiterate heartthrob: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an open socialist running for Congress. Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) referred to the “Democratic Socialist” as “this girl” in an innocuous off-the-cuff remark during a recent rally at Orange Park. “You look at this girl, Ocasio-Cortez, or whatever she is — I mean, she’s in a totally different universe. Basically, socialism wrapped in ignorance,” he said.

Countless Democrats have come out in the days since to unfairly and predictably malign DeSantis, who’s seeking to become governor of Florida, as an egregious sexist.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), for example, called DeSantis’ remark “stunningly sexist.” “It motivates women,” she said. “Most women don’t appreciate being referred to in an offensive manner, in a dismissive matter, as if we’re irrelevant. And that’s certainly the tone and words that he used.”

Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) also joined in, slamming DeSantis for “dismissing” Ocasio-Cortez in part because of her gender.

“The fact that [DeSantis is] endorsed by President Trump doesn’t surprise me,” said Anna Eskamani, a Democrat candidate running for the Florida state House. “I want every person to know if you stand next to Ron DeSantis you are anti-woman, bottom line,” she added.

And the list goes on.

Of course, Democrats are full of it. Like, to the brim full of it.

The manufactured controversy, as The Washington Times’ Cheryl Chumley put it, is nothing more than a display of smoke and mirrors to deflect from Ocasio-Cortez’s terrifying ideology and embarrassing ignorance. Not to mention the fact that Democrats are seemingly in an arms race to find the most disturbingly sexist terms to describe Republican women, particularly those associated with the Trump Administration, so spare us the sexist outrage over the term “this girl.”

As DeSantis himself said in defense of the comment, he was focused on Ocasio-Cortez’s “unhinged socialist views,” not her identity. “Socialism doesn’t work, Israel isn’t occupying ‘Palestine,’ borders matter and the unemployment rate is down because of good policies, not because people are ‘working two jobs,'” he added, smacking Ocasio-Cortez’s stunningly ignorant remarks during an interview with Margaret Hoover earlier in the month.

DeSantis is right to call out Ocasio-Cortez’s terrifying ideology; socialism has been responsible for the death of at least an estimated 100 million souls, and counting. And for goodness’ sake, the woman thinks unemployment is low because everyone’s “working two jobs.” To write off anyone who refers to such ignorance as “sexist” because of Ocasio-Cortez’s identity is, well, sexist.

Further, are Democrats really trying to fool the American people with this faux outrage over the term “this girl”? The party nearly wet themselves with excitement when Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a “c***.” How about the sexist attack on Sarah Sanders to her face at the White House Correspondents Dinner by Democrat hero Michelle Wolf? Remember when Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) said White House Advisor Kellyanne Conway “really looked kind of familiar there in that position” when a photo came out showing her kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office? Or how about twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton referring to the women who accused her husband of sexual misconduct as the “bimbo eruption”?

Don’t buy into the manufactured controversy surrounding Rep. DeSantis; Ocasio-Cortez is fair game for criticism. And, no, Democrats don’t really care about “sexism,” unless, of course, it helps their side.
