Early Friday morning, police officers took out an active shooter who opened fire inside the lobby of Trump National Doral resort. The shooter, who police say was waving an American flag and “spewing” about Trump, was wounded but appears to be in stable condition. One officer suffered a broken wrist, but no one else was injured.
In response, Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump, tweeted out his thanks to the Doral and Miami-Dade officers who stopped the shooter before he could inflict serious harm.
“A huge thank you to the incredible men and women of the @DoralPolice Department and @MiamiDadePD. Every day they keep our community safe. We are very grateful to you!” wrote Eric.
In yet another example of the degree of hostility toward the president and the Trump family, Eric’s post was instantly met with a wave of vitriolic responses from the #resistance online. Below is Eric’s post followed by some of the blowback:
