Freshman Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw (TX) took to Twitter Tuesday to point out a troubling trend in recent “media blunders”: Not only does the media repeatedly err in ways that hurt the Right, it often specifically errs in ways that hurt Christians.
In a tweet Tuesday, Crenshaw highlighted four media “blunders” that occurred just this week:
BuzzFeed published yet another “bombshell” on Donald Trump that blew up in media members’ faces after the Special Counsel took the unusual step of issuing a statement specifically disputing the report. Mainstream media outlets failed once again to provide much coverage of the March for Life, which is regularly the largest annual march in D.C. Many mainstream outlets also “slander[ed] Covington Catholic students” by perpetuating a false narrative depicting the teen boys as cruel, bigoted aggressors who “harassed” and “mocked” a Native American protester, when video evidence shows that the boys were the ones who were harassed and mocked by activists. And members of the media raised unholy hell over Karen Pence working for a Christian school that requires teachers and students to follow Christian moral teachings.
The final three stories, Crenshaw pointed out, have a very clear connection: Christianity. Here’s his post:

Conservatives have long noted that the mainstream media’s errors almost invariably trend in one direction: they hurt the Right and benefit the Left. In the Age of Trump, this trend has become so egregious that it’s increasingly difficult to simply dismiss, as left-leaning outlets have attempted to do over the years — and President Trump is doing his best to make sure it’s not.
In fact, Trump has made sure to weigh in on most of the stories Crenshaw highlighted in his tweet. On Friday, Trump addressed the March for Life for the third year in a row. He also took to social media to point to the Special Counsel-disputed BuzzFeed “bombshell” — which claimed that investigators have hard evidence that Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie to authorities about the “Trump Tower Moscow” project — as a perfect example of how the “fake news media” operates.
“Remember it was Buzzfeed that released the totally discredited ‘Dossier,’ paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats (as opposition research), on which the entire Russian probe is based! A very sad day for journalism, but a great day for our Country!” Trump wrote, adding later: “Many people are saying that the Mainstream Media will have a very hard time restoring credibility because of the way they have treated me over the past 3 years (including the election lead-up), as highlighted by the disgraceful Buzzfeed story & the even more disgraceful coverage!”
On Monday, Trump came to the defense of Covington Catholic junior Nick Sandmann and his classmates, writing, “Looking like Nick Sandman & Covington Catholic students were treated unfairly with early judgements proving out to be false – smeared by media. Not good, but making big comeback! ‘New footage shows that media was wrong about teen’s encounter with Native American’ [-Tucker Carlson]”
“Nick Sandmann and the students of Covington have become symbols of Fake News and how evil it can be,” the president added Tuesday. “They have captivated the attention of the world, and I know they will use it for the good – maybe even to bring people together. It started off unpleasant, but can end in a dream!”
