CNN’s Ana Navarro — often billed as a “Republican strategist” — has donated over $18,000 to Democrat politicians since 1997, according to a Monday report in LifeZette.
Navarro responded to the report via Twitter, describing her financial support for Democrats as similar to many other Miami Republicans opposed to Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Cuba’s Castro brothers.

Democrat beneficiaries of Navarro’s political donations included former Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL), Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL).
Navarro raised between $250,000 and $500,000 for John McCain’s presidential campaign as a bundler.

Like most of what motivates Navarro, the political relationship [between her and Menendez] appears to have started based on Navarro’s efforts to loosen immigration laws as an activist and attorney for a immigration-focused law firm.
Navarro frequently listed her employment at the Bander Law Firm in Miami Shores, Florida. The firm specializes in immigration and nationality laws, and notes it was founded in 1980 “at the gateway to Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Gulf.”
Navarro noted that she voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Political news media observers will note that Navarro belongs to a cadre of left-wing pundits marketed to audiences as Republicans and conservatives.
