The Washington Free Beacon reports that “Air Claire” McCaskill has racked up more miles on her private jet — this time, while she was supposed to be traveling her home state of Missouri in an RV.
According to her latest campaign filings, McCaskill spent more than $20,000 last quarter traveling on her private plane. Around $3,200 of that total was used while McCaskill told voters she was touring Missouri in a camper named “Big Blue” as part of a promotional tour to meet rural voters ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.
According to WFB, McCaskill has spent more than $100,000 on private plane use this cycle alone.
Using flight tracking data and information about McCaskill’s private plane, the Free Beacon discovered that instead of traveling from place-to-place in her tricked out RV, McCaskill was appearing with the RV at campaign events, then jetting from place-to-place in relative luxury.
The airplane, WFB found, “took the same route” as McCaskill’s bizarre, folksy road trip.
McCaskill reimburses the campaign for anything that might look fishy, or might detract from McCaskill’s image as a “blue collar” Democrat who cares deeply for residents of her largely rural home state. In addition to jetting around in what is described as the “Cadillac” of private airplanes, McCaskill reportedly reimbursed her campaign for stays at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and five-star hotels in New York City, New York, and Kansas City, Missouri.
The lonely RV, “Big Blue,” is a rental.
