Remember, according to Democrats, we only have 10 to 12 years left before Planet Earth is destroyed or uninhabitable due to climate change.
But the Left sure doesn’t seem like they earnestly believe their own words given how they act. When Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her cohorts introduced the radical Green New Deal (GND), early 2020 Democrat presidential candidates rushed to support it. Yet when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) decided to call their bluff and hold a vote on the GND, Democrats began backing off and accusing McConnell of playing politics by … holding a vote on something Democrats proposed.
On Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called McConnell’s vote a “sham” on the senate floor.
McConnell, according to Townhall, had just said he wanted Democrats to “go on record” to show if they “really support this fantasy novel masquerading as public policy.”
Schumer responded by saying McConnell and Republicans were playing “games.”
“The games they are playing here will have no meaning. This is not a debate. It’s a diversion. It’s a sham,” Schumer said.
Schumer went on to use the Democrats’ previously reported strategy of accusing Republicans of not caring about climate change or the environment.
“I heard Leader McConnell knocking the Green New Deal,” Schumer said, according to Townhall. “I would ask the leader—and we’re going to keep asking him, and every Republican in this chamber—what they would do about climate change, about global warming. So, Leader McConnell, do you believe that climate change, global warming, is real? Yes or no? Second, do you believe that climate change, global warming, is caused by humans? And three, do you believe that Congress should take immediate action to deal with the problem?”
That last question will likely cause headaches for Democrats who have joined Schumer in complaining about being held accountable for their own proposals. Do Democrats believe Congress should take immediate action to deal with the problem? If so, they should have no concerns about voting for their Green New Deal, if climate change is really the problem they say it is and must be dealt with drastically.
Schumer has previously praised America’s enemies for their work on climate change, including Iran, North Korea, and Syria.
“The rest of the world isn’t laughing either, not when basically every country in the world, including Syria, North Korea, Iran are working together to reduce carbon emissions while the Trump administration has forced the United States to sit on the sidelines,” Schumer said just a couple weeks ago.
It’s difficult for Schumer and Democrats to say climate change is the crisis of our time when they can’t even be bothered to show up for hearings or vote on their own extreme proposals.
