In an interview aired on Sunday’s Reliable Sources, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota claimed to have been sexually harassed by Fox News Channel’s (FNC’s) former chair, Roger Ailes, during her time at the “Fair and Balanced” cable news outlet.

Speaking with colleague Brian Stelter, Camerota stated that Ailes used sexual innuendo to request sex in exchange for career promotions at FNC:

“The time that I remember most was when I was first starting out at Fox and I was single. I remember being in Roger’s office and I was saying that I wanted more opportunity and he said, ‘Well, I would have to work with you. I would have to work with you on that case. I would have to work with you really closely, and it may require us getting to know each other better, and that may have to happen away from here, and it might have to happen at a hotel. Do you know what I’m saying?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I think I do know what you’re saying.’

I knew right there in that moment, I’m never going to that hotel under any circumstances.”

“Roger Ailes did sexually harass me,” said Camerota.

Ailes was often “grossly inappropriate,” said Camerota. “He would talk about body parts. He would say, ‘Give me a spin.’ He would want to be greeted with a hug.”

Camerota speculated that Ailes had subjected many other women at FNC to sexual harassment.

On the political and partisan front, Camerota claimed that Ailes wanted her to be more “conservative” in her news presentation and analysis at FNC; adding that she felt pressured to compromise her perception of journalistic ethics.

Stelter repeatedly sought broad condemnations of FNC as an organization, asking at one point if FNC is “rotten to the core.”

Last week, Bill O’Reilly was removed from FNC following allegations of him sexually harassing female colleagues.

Ailes resigned from FNC in July of last year.
