Alleged child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein was found injured in his New York City jail cell when authorities discovered him in the fetal position, according to local media reports.
NBC New York, which first reported the story, did not elaborate on when Epstein was found with the injuries in Metropolitan Correctional Center but noted that he was found “semi-conscious with marks on his neck.”
“Two sources tell News 4 that Epstein may have tried to hang himself, while a third source cautioned that the injuries were not serious and questioned if Epstein might be using it as a way to get a transfer,” NBC New York reported. “A fourth source said an assault has not been ruled out, and that another inmate was questioned.”
Epstein was arrested earlier this month for allegedly exploiting dozens of underage girls and sexually abusing them in either his NYC residence or in his Palm Beach residence.
NBC New York added that Epstein is now on suicide watch inside the facility.
New revelations about Epstein are seemingly made on a daily basis with the most recent development — outside of his injury — coming from a Daily Beast report today:
Days after Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest on sex-trafficking charges in New York, Bill Clinton distanced himself from the high-flying financier and convicted sex offender. The former president owned up to just six encounters with Epstein, starting in 2002: Four flights on the billionaire’s private jet, a single trip to his Harlem office, and one “brief visit” to his New York apartment, all with staff and security detail in tow.
Now, a Daily Beast investigation has uncovered ties between Epstein and the Clinton administration that date back to the president’s earliest days in the White House, casting doubt on the oft-circulated narrative that the two only began associating after Clinton left office.
The Intercept reported earlier this month that after Epstein reached a non-prosecution agreement in 2008, he had a 53-pound shredder shipped to his Palm Beach home from the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This year, after a federal judge ripped up that agreement, Epstein “shipped a tile and carpet extractor from the Virgin Islands to his Manhattan townhouse, the records show,” The Intercept added.
