Conservative President Of Latin American Nation Survives Shooting Attack, Spanish Media Reports

Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, a conservative, reportedly survived a shooting attack on his entourage Saturday afternoon.

“Shots fired at the presidential delegation in the village of La Laguna de Jacaltenango, Huehuetenango,” radio station Sonora es la Noticia (SN) reported. “There are wounded but President Alejandro Giammattei is unharmed and safe.”

Giammattei, a former prisons director, won the country’s presidential race in 2019 against former fist lady Sandra Torres.
