Another Nation Announces It Is Moving Its Embassy In Israel To Jerusalem

The president of Guatemala announced on Sunday that his country would follow in the footsteps of the United States and move their embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales said that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the decision and noted the strong relationship the two-nations have had since Israel’s creation after World War II.

Morales made the announcement in a statement that was posted to his official Facebook page and translated by the platform into English:

Dear people of Guatemala, today I spoke with the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. We are talking about the excellent relations that we have had as nations since Guatemala supported the creation of the state of Israel.
One of the most important topics was the return of the embassy of Guatemala to Jerusalem.
So I inform you that I have instructed the chancellor to initiate the respective coordination so that it may be.
God bless you.

Guatemala was one of only nine countries that voted with the U.S. in the United Nations last week, while 128 other nations voted to condemn the Trump administration’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
