WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson serves on the board of an elite Washington, D.C. school promoting Critical Race Theory (CRT).
Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz highlighted Jackson’s relationship with the Georgetown Day School when she appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, asking Jackson, “what does critical race theory mean?”
Jackson defined CRT as an “academic theory that is about the ways in which race interacts with various institutions.”
The theory holds that America is fundamentally racist and teaches adherents to view every person and interaction through the lens of race.

Jackson’s questionnaire for the Senate Judiciary Committee also states that she has been a member of the Georgetown Day School board of trustees since 2019, Fox News reported.
She has also been a member of the elite DC school’s community for almost a decade, according to the publication. The school charges upwards of $40,000 in tuition.
In the Winter 2019/2020 edition of Georgetown Day School’s magazine, Fox reported, Jackson said that “since becoming part of the GDS community seven years ago,” both she and her husband “have witnessed the transformative power of a rigorous progressive education that is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, independence, and social justice.”
Georgetown Day School’s board of trustees is involved in the execution of the school’s “anti-racism action plan.” That plan focuses on updating “current language around community expectations” as well as studying “anti-racist work” to “inform potential governance changes.”
“We at GDS have been engaging across the community to further define and deepen our commitments to being an anti-racist institution and staying true to our founding mission,” the school’s website says. “We have identified a path forward for the institution, and we want to transparently share how we have performed in meeting our commitments for the 2020-21 school year and beyond.”
The school recommends a variety of “anti-racist resources,” Fox reported, including Ibram X. Kendi’s book “How To Be An Anti-Racist,” “Critical Race Theory” by Richard Delgado, Peggy McIntosh’s “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack,” and a Kimberlé Crenshaw video entitled “The Urgency of Intersectionality.”
“How To Be An Anti-Racist” author Kendi is a CRT proponent who has called to make “racist ideas by public officials” unconstitutional.
Georgetown Day School promoted a forum that included Kendi in a June 2020 Instagram post, calling him one of the “mega-stars in the fight for racial equity.”
The school also conducted a “segregation simulation to give [their] students a tiny peek at the emotional psychological impact of segregation,” mandates “annual anti-racism education for all faculty/staff,” and provides “professional development funds” to “support registration for and travel to professional conferences, including conferences focusing on diversity equity, and inclusion,” Fox reported.
