Andy Richter: Evangelical Trump Supporters Are ‘Full Of S***’

Conan O’Brien sidekick Andy Richter once again let his mean-spiritedness run when he denounced evangelical Trump supporters as being “full of s***” while being unworthy of serious consideration.

In an angry Twitter post on Sunday, the comedian retweeted an article from The Hill that reported many evangelical Trump supporters were still enthusiastically supportive of the president’s agenda and, accordingly, will be supporting him in 2020 with effectively the same fervor they had in 2016.

“We should never have to take these people seriously ever again, as they are demonstrably full of s***,” Richter said in his post.

The mean-spiritedness exhibited by Richter reared its ugly head during the 2016 election, when he admitted feeling “eternally grateful” about his wife aborting their baby at a Planned Parenthood clinic in 1992.

“In 1992, my girlfriend and I were having a rough time,” he said at the time. “So when she called me to tell me that she was pregnant, it was not exactly happy news.”

“Luckily for us, Planned Parenthood existed,” he continued. “My girlfriend knew that she was not ready for motherhood, and I knew that I was in no way prepared to be a father. I drove from Chicago in my battered old Toyota pickup to be with her when she went to Planned Parenthood to terminate her pregnancy.”

Richter said the abortion was “the right thing for everyone involved” — except, naturally, his aborted baby.

“But I can’t say it was easy. She was sad, and I was sad, and it was sad,” he added. “But to this day, I know that she will tell you that she made the right decision.”

“When we could barely care for ourselves, much less a newborn, we were able to choose the time when we brought a child into our lives,” Richter continued. “Planned Parenthood allowed my wife to make the decisions she needed to make in order to control her body and her health, and maintain her life and her future. And for that, I will be eternally grateful.”

Following his comments, Richter cursed out pro-lifers for being aghast that he and his wife aborted their child.

“I don’t think it’s tricky,” he previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s easy. Planned Parenthood helps a ton of people, and if they don’t agree with that, f*** ’em. You can quote me on that. Tell them I said, ‘F*** ’em.'”

Perhaps Richter should consider that, in many circumstances, the reason evangelicals support Trump so feverishly is to fend off the kind of cruel elitism he exhibits. Indeed, as The Hill article rightly noted, evangelical leaders will be spending big money on Trump’s re-election precisely because he has kept many of his promises to defend religious liberty and protect unborn children.

“Faith leaders and anti-abortion groups are ramping up their efforts to reelect President Trump, rewarding a president who has become an unlikely hero of the Christian Right because of his commitment to socially conservative causes,” The Hill reported. “The Faith and Freedom Coalition will spend tens of millions of dollars on a voter mobilization effort that aims to register one million Christians in key battleground states and reach 30 million people nationwide.”
