On Saturday, at the second year of the so-called Amber Rose SlutWalk, the streets of Los Angeles overflowed with proud self-styled "sluts," shouting their sluttery from the rooftops, dressed in fishnet stockings and holding signs promoting promiscuity, in the name of third-wave feminism, of course.
D-list celebrity Amber Rose, who hosted the event, was joined by fellow D-list celebrities, like pregnant model Blac Chyna and former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson, to presumably fight against slut-shaming and victim-blaming, though Rose is consistently unclear in her goal. Much like most of third-wave feminism.
"Last year people didn't quite understand what a SlutWalk was," Rose told People Magazine. "The number one misconception was people assuming that it was a walk to promote prostitution or promiscuity, which is really stupid. That's the total opposite of what it was."
Hmm. The "walk," which is literally called a "SlutWalk" and boasts of women bragging about their promiscuity, has nothing to do with promoting promiscuity...
But, happily, Rose says people are finally understanding her SlutWalk goal. How does she know this? Celebrities are asking to be included at her events. Yay!
"People finally get it," she said. "Now a number of famous women are reaching out, wanting to be involved, which is a lot more than we had last year."
There is one concrete goal of the event, though: Rose is trying to cash in.
Kanye West's former girlfriend has a CrowdRise campaign page to "raise funds" for her slut-promoting, though it's unclear where exactly the funds go to fight anti-slut "injustice." But proud sluts apparently don't have much money to spare these days: Thus far, Rose has raised a pitiful $22,000.
(By the way, if you donate $30 now, you'll receive a "My P*ssy, My Choice" pair of underwear, in case you're interested!)
Rose says her son, who is currently three years of age, will "for sure" be at next year's SlutWalk.
Feminism has come a long way, baby.
