Federal bureaucrats are spending your hard-earned tax-dollars to promote the idea that lesbian farmers exist. Yes, you read that correctly.
According to the Obama Administration, Americans believe that all farmers fit a "white, rich male" stereotype, which apparentlyis wildly detrimental. I mean, if I don't know that the chocolate milk I'm drinking was originally obtained from a lesbian milking a cow, things could really breakdown.
To combat this horror, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is "holding summits to promote the role of lesbian farmers as a part of its 'Rural Pride' campaign," reports The Washington Free Beacon.
First and foremost, let's define "Rural Pride." The USDA helpfully explains:
“Contrary to widely held myths that the LGBT community is largely living in affluent metropolitan areas, studies show a very different and more realistic picture of the LGBT community. For a number of reasons, many people in the LGBT community choose to live, work, and raise their families in the rural communities that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is proud to serve.”
And it just gets better the more you know: LGBT activist and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" singer Cyndi Lauper is working with the department for a "day of conversation" about the hardships of "rural" LGBT folks, who presumably farm. Their goal is super important: to change America's alleged perception that all farmers are "white, rich" and "male."
"The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Civil Rights, in collaboration with the National Center for Lesbian Rights and The True Colors Fund, will engage with LGBT rural communities across the country to host the LGBT Rural Summit Series,” said the USDA. "Each series will offer a unique opportunity for USDA and other federal agencies to share information relating to policies, programs, and services that exist to protect, promote and strengthen LGBT rural communities."
Talk about a noble cause! And here I was thinking the LGBT community would prefer protection from ISIS, those barbarians who kill scores of gays in nightclubs right here in America for simply being gay. Good thing those feds know best!
The next groundbreaking lesbian-farmer summit will take place at Drake University in Iowa on August 18, where lesbians in overalls will be taught about subsidies, rural housing loans and "community facility grants."
