Ready for another hypocritical lecture from a member of the leftist Hollywood elite? Well good, because gun-wielding superactionstar Matt Damon has a few words for all of you overly "emotional," 2nd Amendment-loving Americans who aren't "sensible" enough to embrace gun control: It's time the government took your guns "in one fell swoop" just like Australia did. Oh yeah, and go see his latest movie about a gun-toting assassin who mows down his enemies and looks like a badass while doing it.

Damon's gun control comments came while he was in Sydney promoting his latest installment of the somehow-still-going Bourne Identity series, Jason Bourne.

"You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it's not -- it's such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can't," said Damon in an interview published Tuesday (video below).

The problem, he explained, is that Americans just get "so emotional" when dealing with their constitutionally protected rights.

"People get so emotional that even when you make a suggestion -- I mean not selling AK47s to people on terror watch lists, that's a non-starter. I don't know what needs to happen," he said.

Americans are unreasonable and un"evolve[d]," he suggested, that not even mass shootings will convince us to give up our right to protect ourselves.

"Obviously mass shootings aren't going to do it," he said. "There have been so many of them at this point. Sandy Hook, when those children were murdered, if that didn't do it, you know, I just don't know. Maybe we just need to evolve further before we can have that conversation, I don't know."

Australia, he pointed out, is just "fine" since it took its citizens' weapons.

"It's wonderful what Australia did because you guys haven't had a mass shooting since you went, 'No, we're going to be sensible about this.' And nobody's rights have been infringed, you guys are fine," he said.

"I wish we could be sensible like that but I don't think that's going to happen in my lifetime," he lamented.

Damon's biggest moneymakers are the films in the gun-filled, violence-packed Bourne Identity series, which have brought in $122 million, $176 million and $227 million domestically. So will he put his money where his mouth is and disavow all gun violence-glorifying films and donate all his proceeds from past films for the sake of the children of Sandy Hook? Nah, but he will continue to blast Americans and falsely represent the nature of the gun control debate in our country to keep up his good Hollywood A-Lister creds.
