Federal Judge: The Constitution Says You Must Let Women Abort Disabled Babies

On Thursday, a federal judge blocked a law that banned abortions on the basis of genetic abnormalities. US District Court Judge Tanya Walton Pratt granted an injunction on behalf of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky. Pratt said that “a state may not prohibit a woman from making the ultimate decision to have an abortion prior to fetal viability.” She added, “it is a woman’s right to choose an abortion that is protected, which, of course, leaves no room for the state to examine the basis or bases upon which a woman makes her choice.” She even struck down a provision of the law providing that fetal remains be disposed of “with the dignity of human remains.” Why? Because, said the judge, “the law does not recognize a fetus as a person.”

This logic is impeccable: babies aren’t human before they’re “viable” according to those eminent scientists at the Supreme Court. Therefore, women have a right to do anything they want with them, and can dispose of their bodies as though they are merely polyps. Here, for reference, is a picture of a child miscarried at 19 weeks.

Does this look like a ball of tissue to you? Does this seem like a meaningless cluster of cells that can be disposed of in any way? Should a woman be able to kill this meaningless thing because it happens to have Down Syndrome, for example?

What utter evil. The same left that will rightly excoriate Donald Trump for mocking the disabled will cheer with a woman who kills a disabled baby. They'll put that in their Democratic Party platform; they'll insist you pay for the killing.

Science has nothing to do with any of this. This is paganistic feminism masquerading as science.

But it does give the lie to the left’s suggestion that abortion be safe, legal, and rare. At least Judge Pratt gets the logic right: if this isn’t a human, there’s no need for abortion to be rare. There’s nothing immoral about utilizing it as birth control. There’s nothing wrong with killing a baby at 19 weeks because it is black, or female, or disabled. That’s just a choice a woman makes to pretend her child isn’t a child, then sacrifice it to the Moloch of “women’s rights.”
