The Department of Veterans Affairs continues to treat the country's veterans poorly, as over a half a million have to wait over 30 days for medical care.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that recent VA data reveals that almost 506,000 veterans have to had wait over a month at various agencies before finally seeing a doctor. The full breakdown for the length of wait time for veterans is:

  • 1-2 months: Almost 300,000 veterans.
  • 2-3 months: Over 130,000 veterans.
  • 3-4 months: Almost 50,000 veterans.
  • Over four months: Over 30,000 veterans.

The total number of veterans waiting over 30 days for care has increased by 23,000 in a month and 10,000 over a two-week period, but the numbers probably don't fully measure the wait times for veterans because, as the Free Beacon explains, "The VA does not begin measuring waits when a veteran first calls to make an appointment—instead schedulers use the 'preferred date,' either the date the veteran wants an appointment or the date a VA doctor decides the veteran should be seen. The VA’s data likely underestimates patient wait times because of this methodological choice."

The report comes on the heels of VA Secretary Robert McDonald's despicable comments comparing the VA to Disneyland.

"When you got to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what's important?" McDonald said. "What's important is, what's your satisfaction with the experience? And what I would like to move to, eventually, is that kind of measure."

It's surely not an enjoyable ride for the hundreds of thousands veterans who have died waiting for care as the VA put them on secret wait lists so their executive could score up to $400 million in bonuses. It's also been a nightmare for veterans at the Tomah, Wisconsin VA, which was known as "Candy Land" for over-prescribing pain killers to veterans, resulting in numerous deaths and overdoses.

The problems at the VA continue to worsen, and the outrage increases, but yet nothing is done to actually fix it. Meanwhile, the veterans who fought to protect liberty and freedom are being treated like dirt due to the incompetence, greed and corruption of government bureaucarcy.
