Last week, the openly Christian "Bachelorette" star Hannah Brown demanded that people stop slut-shaming her. One week later, she eliminated a contestant with whom she confessed to having sex four different times during the show.
According to Fox News, Hannah Brown sent contestant Peter Weber ("Pilot Pete") packing on Monday night's season finale of "The Bachelorette," during which she admitted to having sex with him two times in a windmill.
"I was a little dishonest about something," Brown said during the episode's live portion. "Since it’s out there, and I did say there was something that Peter and I did twice … it was actually four times!"
"I can’t believe you just said that!" Weber responded.
Brown confessed this in front of both her family and Pete Weber's family — all of whom were in the audience at the time.
Exactly why Hannah Brown eliminated Pete Weber despite having sex with him four times is unclear. Brown could not fully explain and admitted that Weber was a "great catch."
"There wasn't anything wrong and I know that's probably hard to hear because I wish I could give you a clear concrete answer, but I truly thought you would meet my family," Brown told Weber. "I wish I would have known a little bit sooner about how you felt and you would have told me maybe. I was scared. I think I felt like you were scared to love me."
"I always enjoyed our time together, but I don't know if it was just you not exactly expressing to me verbally how you felt, if that held me back from emotionally jumping the gun and going all in," she continued. "I knew I was going to hurt you, but I was also getting hurt too because I was falling in love with you and it didn't just go away. It's been really hard for me to watch everything and watch how upset I was that day because everything that we had was real. I was scared I was letting go of the perfect guy."
Hannah Brown's final choice will not be revealed until night two of the season finale on Tuesday night. When asked about his feelings, Weber held back tears as he praised Brown for being "the most amazing person."
"She was just honestly the most amazing person I've ever met so far in my life. I’m just grateful for all those memories we made and being able to fall in love with her," said Pete. "I really fell for her, and I had no doubt that it was going to be us in the end. I really didn't [think I was going home]. That was tough to watch back."
"I don't think you can completely fall out of love with someone," he continued. "It's been two months. I've been moving on and doing my best with that, and I know time will heal all wounds. A little piece of my heart will always love her."
Several weeks ago, Hannah Brown booted the openly Christian Luke Parker off the show over a disagreement about pre-marital sex.
"So, let's talk about sex and how the marriage bed should be kept pure," said Parker at the time. "I had an encounter with God. I was in the shower and God was speaking to me. I realized that I wasn't the man that I wanted to be. And I've been working on being the husband that I want to be for my future wife."
"I have had sex, and, honestly, Jesus still loves me," said Brown.
Brown later argued that Parker's views on premarital sex were tantamount to pride. "Guess what? Sex might be a sin out of marriage, [but] pride is a sin, too, and I feel like this is like a pride thing," Brown said while eliminating Parker from the show. "I feel like I've finally gotten clarity on you, and I do not want you to be my husband."
At the time, she admitted to having sex with Weber twice. Shortly thereafter, she admitted to feeling frustrated with people trying to slut-shame her.
"I am so over being slut-shamed and being felt like that makes me not a woman of faith, because, oh my gosh. I live my life and make mistakes and sin every single day and so do you, and so do you, and so do you," Brown said last week. "I'm also not going to say that me having sex in a windmill was just the Scarlett Letter on my chest to have. I'm not going to stand here and feel that way and you're not going to make me feel that way."
