5 Times The Biden Administration Laughed At Your Pain

DailyWire.com

“We don’t have an anger problem in American politics,” said then-President of AEI Arthur Brooks in a viral video clip from 2017. “We have a contempt problem in American politics.” Unfortunately, much of that contempt is presently directed by political elites to those whom they have promised to serve.

“I will now be an American president. I will work as hard for those who didn’t vote for me as those who did,” President-elect Joe Biden pledged the day the media proclaimed that he had won the 2020 election. Yet in the ensuing months, the president and major figures within his administration have laughed, chuckled, and sarcastically minimized the suffering of American citizens — suffering often caused by the foreseeable consequences of their policies.

Here are a few examples:

1. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm literally belly-laughed at high gas prices

Last week, Energy Secretary and former governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm literally laughed out loud when asked to solve America’s high gas prices, during an interview with Bloomberg. “In Sturgis, Michigan, [gas] is $2.89 a gallon. I guess that’s better than in California,” where gasoline prices currently average $4.65 a gallon and have topped $7 a gallon in the city of Gorda. “What is the Granholm plan to increase oil production in America?” the host asked.

Madam Secretary laughed heartily. “That is hilarious!” she said. “Would that I had the magic wand on this. As you know, of course, oil is a global market. It is controlled by a cartel. That cartel is called OPEC. And they made a decision yesterday that they were not going to increase beyond what they were already planning.”

Contrary to her assertion, energy prices come from supply and demand, and the Trump administration’s energy policies so encouraged the exploration and expansion of U.S. energy resources that the nation briefly became a net exporter of petroleum products. President Biden has canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline and attempted to suspend drilling permits on federal land.

Granholm did not laugh in ignorance. On Sunday, when Dana Bash of CNN’s “State of the Union” asked if Americans should “expect to pay higher prices for heating their homes,” Granholm responded, “Yes, this is going to happen.”

2. Kamala Harris laughs at parents whose children are barred from in-person schooling

Vice President Kamala Harris also laughed so hard that she had to pause momentarily as she began discussing parents forced to stay home with their children when schools canceled in-person education.

“I’ll close by saying this,” said Harris during a March 26 visit to a childcare center in West Haven, Connecticut. “I believe in that, that saying that in every crisis, there is an opportunity, if we see it for what it is. This pandemic resulted in so much loss to human life, people lost their jobs, loss of normalcy, so much loss and devastation.”

But then she turned to the “opportunity”: Harris believed that these conditions made Americans more likely to support the administration’s political agenda, especially its expansion of the welfare state.

“The opportunity is, more people are seeing that, yeah, affordable childcare is a big deal. More parents are seeing the value of educators,” she said, as she began laughing, “when they had to bring their kids [home, she said laughing so hard she had to stop for a moment. Parents who had to care for their own children said, “We’re not paying them nearly enough,” Harris said, continuing to laugh as she adjusted her mask.

In fact, a growing number of parents grew concerned about the content and quality of their children’s education during the pandemic. Multiple studies proved that school boards’ decisions to close in-person instruction — which led to an estimated one-fifth of a year of learning loss among students (one day for each day of remote learning) — had more to do with the power of teachers unions than with local infection rates. Parents also raised concerns about the teaching of controversial, polarizing ideologies like Critical Race Theory and furnishing minors with sexually explicit, homoerotic pornography in their libraries. An estimated 3 million women also left the U.S. workforce during the COVID pandemic, many because they had to stay home so their children could attend remote education.

3. Jen Psaki sarcastically responds to question about Americans unable to get presents due to supply chain issues

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki also tried to rhetorically parry a question about U.S. households being unable to purchase the items they need because the supply chain has left them mired in interminable delivery schedules.

“It was clear in March of 2020, when COVID hit, that the supply chains across the world had been disrupted,” said Fox News reporter Peter Doocy. As time went on, it became “crystal clear that things were not improving on supply chain. People couldn’t get dishwashers and furniture and treadmills delivered on time, not to mention all sorts of other things.”

“The tragedy of the treadmill that’s delayed,” Psaki said condescendingly.

Doocy clarified that he had a “serious point,” asking if America’s barren shelves are “a reflection of the fact that his administration has failed to kind of anticipate and is much more reactive to these kinds of things rather than getting ahead of them, as they should?”

Psaki’s and Buttigieg’s comments followed remarks made by Kamala Harris during her visit to Singapore in August that “if you want to have Christmas toys for your children it might be the time to start buying them because the delay may be many, many months.”

4. Kamala Harris laughs when asked if she is going to the southern border

Kamala Harris laughed again on March 22 when asked if she would visit the U.S. border with Mexico to observe the situation firsthand.

“Do you plan to visit the border?” a reporter asked.

“Um, not today!” she said before cackling.

Two days later, President Biden would task her with handling the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, saying she’s “the most qualified person to do it, to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle, and the countries that can help, need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border.” As The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra reported:

Photojournalistsnews programs, and reporters have repeatedly pressed the Biden administration over the administration’s refusal to give the press access to view the inside of the facilities. Even Fox News host Chris Wallace called out DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the administration’s refusal to grant access to the media due to the pandemic as sounding “like an excuse” and “not a legitimate reason.”

The situation has only deteriorated. A record-breaking 1,734,686 illegal immigrants and 11,201 pounds of fentanyl crossed the U.S. border with Mexico over the last fiscal year. (Each pound of fentanyl can kill almost 227,000 Americans, and law enforcement officials say opioids caused about three-quarters of last year’s 93,000 overdose deaths nationwide.) Illegal border crossings skyrocketed after the election of the Biden-Harris ticket. Both the president and vice president campaigned on providing amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants and furnishing new arrivals with “free’ health care.

Although Harris did eventually visit the southwestern border, she has always maintained her portfolio deals with the alleged “root causes” of illegal immigration to the U.S., leading the administration to attempt to renegotiate agreements with Central and South American nations after canceling similar pacts hammered out by President Donald Trump.

5. Poll shows Americans believe Biden is incompetent and unfocused

At an August 22 press conference — an exceedingly rare event in the Biden administration — a reporter asked President Biden about a new poll showing that “the majority of Americans — forgive me; I’m just the messenger — no longer find you competent, focused, or effective in the job.”

“I haven’t seen that poll,” Biden replied. When the reporter assured the president that the poll existed, the president laughed before turning the discussion to his decision to withdraw from Afghanistan. “Look, I had a basic decision to make,” Biden said. “My job is to make judgments no one else can or will make.” While most Americans support ending the 20-year engagement in Afghanistan, they opposed his precipitous withdrawal, which left hundreds of Americans trapped in a country run by the Taliban.

The CBS News/YouGov poll, released earlier that day, found that only 49% of Americans believe Joe Biden is “competent”; 48% believe he is mentally “focused”; and 47% believe he is “effective” as president.

The 2020 election largely became a referendum on President Donald Trump’s personality and policies during the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, while Biden essentially sequestered himself inside his basement, called a lid early on weekdays, and refused to comment on pivotal issues like packing the Supreme Court. Yet Biden’s evasive behaviors have continued now that he occupies the Oval Office, leaving U.S. citizens disregarding of his efforts and uncertain about his capabilities. And his handpicked administrators’ actions leave U.S. citizens feeling as though their concerns are matter of mirth for, or of little concern to, their elected officials.

Such an outcome is no laughing matter.
