Bill Nye the Science Guy is convinced that climate change is real, it's man-made, and if you disagree then you're basically a criminal. Click above for the former PBS children's show host's reasoning.
In an interview released on Thursday, Nye tells Marc Morano of the conservative think tank CFACT (the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow) that he's open to the idea of jailing those who deviate from the climate change consensus.
Morano: We interviewed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the environmentalist here at the People's Climate March in 2014 and he said that climate deniers CEO's belong at The Hague with three square meals and a cot with all the other war criminals. What is your thought on that? And do you think some of the rhetoric on your side gets too carried away? What's your thought on jailing skeptics as war criminals?
Nye: We'll see what happens. Was it appropriate to jail the guys from Enron? Ok, so we'll see what happens. Was it appropriate to jail people from the cigarette industry who insisted that this addictive product was not addictive and so on? And you think about in these cases for me, as a taxpayer and voter, the introduction of this extreme doubt about climate change is affecting my quality of life as a public citizen. So I can see where people are very concerned about this and are pursuing criminal investigations as well as engaging in discussions like this.
The interview took place in advance of the upcoming May 2nd release of a film Morano is involved with called “Climate Hustle,” a skeptical exploration of the predictions of climate change disasters.
