Democrat Political Analyst: Joe Biden Has A ‘Woman Problem’

In an op-ed for Fox News, Democrat political analyst Mary Anne Marsh lays out former Vice President Joe Biden’s problems attracting the women’s vote in the Democratic primaries.

“Biden’s support of policies that undermine women is a pattern, and that should concern women,” Marsh wrote on Monday.

She began by detailing several policies and issues Biden has had to address since announcing his run for president, first and foremost his handsiness with women over the years.

“The first problem for Biden was a series of complaints about him inappropriately touching women over the years. After multiple failed attempts at making an apology about the situation, Biden settled into awkward self-deprecating humor that few found funny,” Marsh wrote.

Biden’s second problem, according to Marsh, is his treatment of Anita Hill back in the early '90s. Hill accused then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment, though she presented no concrete evidence of her claims, which were also belied by the fact that she continued to follow him from job to job as a clerk.

But, society being what it is today, none of this matters. Hill’s self-serving claims are all the evidence today’s #MeToo activists need, the result of a society that was spurred by Biden himself and his policies demanding we “believe all women” and ignore evidence that a woman is lying. We’ve seen how this has played out in the military and on college campuses, where absurd and easily disprovable accusations result in punishment for men.

Biden now is reaping what he sowed, and it might harm his image for Democratic women. Marsh wrote that Biden apologized to Hill — 28 years later and only because he was about to announce his campaign for president. To further add salt to the activists' wounds, Biden claimed he regretted that he “couldn’t come up with a way to get her the kind of hearing she deserved.”

This, Marsh wrote, was absurd, since he was the chairman of the Judiciary Committee and ran the hearings where Hill testified.

Finally, Biden’s 24-hour change of heart on the Hyde Amendment may hurt his chances with abortion-loving Democratic women, Marsh wrote.

“When you support policies like the Hyde Amendment, as Biden did, and deny women access to health care, then you are treating them as though they are not equal partners in our society. That is unacceptable,” she wrote.

Of course, while national Democrats publicly support third-term abortions up to the minute of birth and won’t condemn infanticide if it is done due to a botched abortion, the vast majority of Americans still oppose abortion after the first trimester.

Recent polls also show Biden has more support from women than men. A recent Economist/YouGov poll found that 43% of women respondents viewed Biden “somewhat” or “very” favorable, compared to 39% of men. And just 37% of women viewed Biden “somewhat” or “very” unfavorable, compared to 46% of men.

Further, despite whatever issues Biden should have with women based on the issues outlined by Marsh, he is still the runaway favorite in the polls, and should he be the nominee, Democrat women — especially those who hate President Donald Trump on a visceral level — are going to support him over the current president. They’re not going to care about the Anita Hill hearings. All they’re going to care about is which candidate will support the issues they care about.
