The media’s hatred for Israel has kicked into high gear, just as Palestinian Arab hatred for Jews kicks into higher gear. Despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slamming the media yesterday for its moral equivalence between Palestinians stabbing Jews and the Jews being stabbed, CNN has doubled down on its pathetically pro-terrorist media coverage.
On Friday, Palestinian Arabs set fire to Joseph’s Tomb in the biblical city of Shechem, called Nablus by the Palestinians and the press. The terror attack on the Jewish holy site is not the first attempt to destroy or deface it by Palestinians – they tried the same routine in 2014, 2013, 2011, and 2008, as well as earlier this year. The Palestinians attempted to burn the Tomb at night because that is when Jews visit the shrine under Israeli Defense Force guard to pray.
But according to CNN, Joseph’s Tomb spontaneously combusted:
It “caught fire” in a “spate of Palestinian-Israeli violence.” It could have been the Israelis. It could have been the Palestinians. It could have been the Fire Fairy. Who knows? CNN continued:
Fire broke out at the compound housing Joseph’s Tomb overnight, a religious site venerated by Jews, the Israel Defense Forces said. Palestinian forces dispersed alleged Palestinian arsonists and put out the fire.
“Alleged” Palestinian arsonists? Is there any doubt as to who set the fire? Not according to the bulk of all media coverage, as well as both Israeli and Palestinian authorities.
The article then goes on to attribute the recent wave of deadly Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians to the aforementioned “spate of violence.” In a classic instance of moral equivalence, CNN reports:
Palestinian attackers have wielded knifes against Israeli civilians and police, and Israeli security forces have turned their guns on them, but they have also fired during protests that have turned riotous. In the past month, eight Israelis died in 30 attacks with knives and other weapons that wounded many more. In the last two weeks, 34 Palestinians have been killed, including some who pulled knives. But others have been shot in clashes with Israeli security forces, Palestinian authorities have said. More than 1,100 Palestinians have been injured.
See? Those nasty Jews have killed more Palestinians than the Palestinians have killed Israeli civilians in terror attacks. CNN then continues by citing the Obama administration’s accusations of excessive force against Israel.
CNN then explains that tensions were exacerbated by Jews insisting on visiting Jewish holy sites:
Since the occupation began, an unwritten rule has said that Jews would not pray at the Temple Mount, one of the holiest sites in Islam and the holiest site in Judaism. But in recent years, hardline Jewish activists have demanded greater access to the spot, and right-wing politicians have called for the rights of Jews to pray there.
An “unwritten rule” demanding religious discrimination must be upheld, according to CNN. It is hardline for Jews to want to visit the holiest site in Judaism, but normality for Palestinian Muslims to ban them. CNN also tastefully neglects to mention Palestinian Authority dictator Mahmoud Abbas falsely accusing Jews of defacing the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque, stating, “They have no right to desecrate them with their filthy feet.”
Finally, CNN blames Israeli settlements for the current tensions.
Last year, appearing on CNN, I explained that if Hamas could have created a media outlet, it would look like CNN. CNN has done nothing to deflect that charge with its coverage today.
