It seems that while Apple is happy to announce a boycott against Indiana for daring to protect religious liberty over traditional marriage, the company has no qualms about doing business in notoriously anti-LGBT countries.
According to Fast Company, a rainbow-colored watch face in honor of gay pride for the Apple Watch is being censored in Russia.
"The self-censoring of the gay pride watch face on the Apple Watch is a shocking discovery considering how big a supporter Apple is of LGBTQ rights," reports FC. "Yet iOS developer Guilherme Rambo found evidence that the pride Apple Watch face is “hardcoded to not show up if the paired iPhone is using the Russian locale."
This testimony has also been backed by the Verge, which found that "the pride watch face simply disappears" if the iPhone running the latest iOS 12 beta is switched to the Russian locale.
By doing this, Apple is acting in accord with Russia's anti-LGBT propaganda laws that were put in place by Vladimir Putin in 2013.
None of this scandal even compares, however, to reports out earlier this year showing that certain items of Pride Month swag were manufactured in countries with hostile anti-LGBT laws.
