Acclaimed actor Robert De Niro just cannot silence his inner Jake LaMotta and keeps pounding away at President Trump with a bunch of hot-headed bull.
As of now, the "Taxi Driver" star has stated he wants to punch Trump in the face, called him a "motherf***er" and "f***ing idiot," and even compared the real estate mogul's election to the tragedy of 9/11. Now, De Niro is calling Trump a "spoiled idiot" who "lacks any sense of humanity."
Speaking at a charity fundraising dinner in Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, De Niro channeled his iconic character Travis Bickle when he called “the Trump world of dishonesty and greed.” De Niro's comments were meant to praise the Fulfillment Fund, an organization helping underprivileged children receive a higher education, but he used it as a platform to attack the President.
"A college education is important, but education without humanity is ignorance," began De Niro. "Look at our president. He made it through the University of Pennsylvania, so he was exposed to a quality education, but he’s still an idiot. And he lacks any sense of humanity or compassion."
Then De Niro attacked Trump for avoiding the Vietnam War due to a medical deferment for "bone spurs" in his heels. No historical record exists of De Niro ever serving in Vietnam; his pretending to do so in "The Deer Hunter" does not count.
"Of course, he did have to overcome the curse of growing up rich and spoiled," said the actor. "And endure the heartbreak of bone spurs. Maybe that had an effect."
Since Trump is such an evil guy, then all of us are "complicit" in it if we fail to oppose him.
"And it is especially appropriate tonight, Trump treats education as a con — a way to make a profit at the expense of the suckers. Anyone here planning to get their education at Trump University?" De Niro asked rhetorically. "To be silent in the face of such villainy is to be complicit."
According to THR, a few in the crowd booed at his divisive rhetoric and when he yelled back at them, people uproariously cheered.
