At his appearance at the 2018 AIPAC Policy Conference, Vice President Mike Pence told the enthusiastic audience that the alliance between America and Israel "has never been stronger," declared that America would "stand with Israel today, tomorrow, and always," and announced that the days of "Israel-bashing" at the United Nations are over.
On Tuesday, Pence was welcomed at the Washington Convention Center in the nation’s capital, where he spoke about the important relationship between America and Israel and touted President Donald Trump's policies toward our long-time Middle East ally.
"You know, thanks to the President’s leadership, the alliance between America and Israel has never been stronger," said Pence. "The friendship between our peoples has never been deeper. And I stand before you today on his behalf to convey a simple message: America stands with Israel, today, tomorrow, and always."
Pence also praised U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s record on the topic. "And with Ambassador Nikki Haley on the job, the days of Israel-bashing at the United Nations are over," he told the audience.
The Vice President also praised Trump for the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel.
"And while every president for the past two decades promised to recognize the capital of Israel, President Trump did more than promise. He delivered," Pence said to applause. "And it was my great honor in January of this year to be the first Vice President of the United States to address the Knesset in Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel."
He continued, "As the President said, by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, in his words, 'We finally acknowledge the obvious.' The State of Israel is called Jerusalem, the seat of its government since its rebirth, 70 years ago."
