Over the weekend, the Democrats finally released their own memo to counter the Republicans' memo on the sketchy use of a sketchy Democrat-funded dossier to obtain a FISA warrant against a Donald Trump associate. The result, says President Trump, is a "total political and legal BUST."
"The Democrat memo response on government surveillance abuses is a total political and legal BUST," Trump tweeted after the much-hyped memo was released Saturday. "Just confirms all of the terrible things that were done. SO ILLEGAL!"
As Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro highlights, the Democrat memo, written by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), makes a series of what are intended to be counter-claims to the Republicans' memo, written by Rep. Devin Nunces (R-CA), including: 1) the Page warrant didn’t start the investigation (which Nunes acknowledged in his memo); 2) the Steele dossier wasn’t the sole basis for the FISA application; 3) three of the four judges were Republican-appointed; 4) the warrant on Page doesn't constitute a "wiretap" on the Trump campaign since he wasn't working for him at the time; 5) other FISA warrants didn't rely only on the Steele dossier; 6) the DOJ didn’t lie about the dossier; and 7) the FBI stopped using the Steele dossier after learning he talked to the media. Starting on Saturday, Trump has issued a series of tweets unloading on the Democrats' memo "BUST" for "confirming" many of the accusations leveled by Republicans, including that the "FBI did not disclose who the clients were — the Clinton Campaign and the DNC." Trump also repeatedly underscored that there's still no evidence of Russia collusion, dismissing the investigation as a "witch hunt." Among the tweets was footage of his interview with Fox News in which he called for an investigation into the "really fraudulent" activities of the previous administration concerning himself.

The president picked up on the "witch hunt" theme again on Tuesday, again citing Fox News several times:
