Ex-Dominatrix-Turned-Police Officer Fired From New Jersey Sheriff's Office

On Wednesday, a 31-year-old New Jersey police officer was fired because of her past history as a dominatrix in bondage films online.

According to one source quoted by The Jersey Journal, Kristen Hyman, who appeared in those films between 2010-2012, was fired primarily for lying about her prior work as a dominatrix on her sheriff's office application. Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari said the hearing officer decided to fire Hyman; Schillari stated, "I agree with the hearing officer."

Hyman was suspended without pay on May 26, 2017, six days before she was scheduled to graduate. The sheriff's office stated her activities in the films were conduct unbecoming a public employee; the office also accused her of neglect of duty and other causes for disciplinary action.

The sheriff’s office also noted "the proliferation of video and audio records ... and or the promoting on social media ... has resulted in the Hudson County Sheriff's Office being the subject of inquiry and ridicule among law enforcement."

But Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mary Costello lifted the suspension and ordered Hyman's reinstatement, allowing her to graduate; she was then placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of her disciplinary hearing.

Hyman called the videos “stupid stuff I did when I was a kid.” According to The Daily Mail, the videos show Hyman “kicking naked men in the testicles, choking a man in a swimming pool, and putting her heels on the face of a man in a leather mask.” In the videos, Hyman said, she called herself “Domina Nyx Blake.”

Hyman told the New York Post, "I don't know what it has to do with me doing the job.” She can appeal the decision to the state Civil Service Commission.
