Matt Lauer made $28 million a year as host of NBC's "The Today Show."
He's worth $80 million, at least according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Lauer and his wife Annette Lauer "have bought and sold multiple homes in the ritzy Hamptons over the years, including the 2016 purchase of actor Richard Gere’s 12-bedroom waterfront house in North Haven for $33 million," Time reported. "Nearby, Matt and Annette also own a 40-acre, world-class horse-training facility, Bright Side Farm, where they keep their horses and board the horses of wealthy clients in oversized stalls."
And now, at 59, Lauer is retired. Not by choice, mind you. A massive sex scandal consumed, chewed him up, and spit him out, but apparently there are no real consequences for years of sexual harassment and abuse, so, it's party time!
“Matt has no intention in returning to public life . . . He plans to disappear and play golf.” a "source" told the New York Post. “He wants to be a regular Joe. To play golf and stay in the Hamptons. He has no intention of mounting a Billy Bush-style comeback campaign. He is going to stick to his one statement and not address the allegations further.”
In his admission, Lauer said: “Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full-time job.”
Well, that and golf, or horseback riding, or hobnobbing with the ultra-rich in the Hamptons.
The Post reported that Lauer and Roque are still living together in the Hamptons, where she’s emerged looking miserable and gaunt. “She’s back in the Hamptons to take care of the kids,” says a source. “This has taken a huge toll. She’s painfully thin. People at her kids’ school are concerned.”
Meanwhile, Roque's father, Henri, 76, spoke with the Daily Mail from his home in the Netherlands.
Roque's father, Henri, 76, speaking from his apartment near Amsterdam, had told DailyMail.com exclusively: "I have no words for her husband. What he has done is bad. Everybody feels betrayed."
"She is not going to stay with him and work it out. They are not together trying to work it out."
Mr. Roque added: "[Annette] is feeling shocked and she is now having sorrow for her children. Me too. Everybody is feeling quite sad."
"There are also the kids, I don’t know what she’s doing or who they are going to stay with."
