According to The Hill, during a "tax-reform event" on Saturday in Mesa, Arizona, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) was caught on a hot mic talking about the future of the Republican Party under President Trump:

[If we] become the Party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast.

Mesa Mayor John Giles responded: "And I am not just throwing smoke at you, but you are the guy that could, just for fun, think how much fun it would be just to be the foil, you know, and point what an idiot this guy is ... anyway, I hope you do it."

According to ABC15, Mayor Giles was speaking about Flake running for president.

Flake’s assessment of the Republican Party under Trump doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

During an October 24 speech on the Senate floor during which he announced that he would not seek re-election in 2018, Flake directly targeted President Trump on multiple occasions, and stated that the "conservative" path to success is becoming ever more narrow in today’s Republican Party.
