Jeff Flake Tweets About Closing Gun 'Loophole' That Doesn't Exist. Twitter Roasts Him.

"Jeff Flake's next bill will be a proposal to make murder illegal."

On Tuesday, in response to Sunday's deadly Texas shooting, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) pledged to close a "loophole" in gun background checks that does not exist.

Flake, who is not seeking reelection in 2018 due to his disastrous polling numbers, teamed up with Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) to close the "Domestic Violence Loophole," which he claimed would prevent anyone convicted of domestic violence from buying a gun.

Twitter quickly educated Flake about the current U.S. gun laws.

Flake's announcement came a day after authorities revealed that the Air Force under the Obama administration failed to turn the shooter's criminal and psychiatric records over to the FBI, which would have prevented him from legally obtaining a firearm.
