On Friday, Variety relayed a report from NBC that taping for The Tonight Show had been cancelled due to "a private Fallon family matter."
Fallon’s mother is ill and in a hospital, according to a person familiar with the matter, and the “Tonight” host is joining his family to be with her.
On Saturday, Fallon’s mother, Gloria, passed away at age 68.
A Fallon spokesperson released a statement, which reads: "Jimmy Fallon’s mother, Gloria, died peacefully on Saturday. Jimmy was at his mother’s bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC. Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time."
