The alleged serial sexual harassment and assault from Democratic mega-donor and big-time producer Harvey Weinstein was apparently an open secret in Hollywood. Powerful actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have come forward to say they were victims of Weinstein years ago, megastars have been accused of trying to silence damning media reports, and elites have been on record cracking jokes about the abuse of power.
Despite his decades-long behavior, stars continued to line-up to work for Weinstien and prop him up as some professional and societal hero. As noted by Daily Wire's Paul Bios, Hollywood stars gushed over the producer at the Oscars more times than they mentioned God:
According to a study by Vocativ in 2015 that analyzed 1,396 acceptance speeches, Weinstein ranked number 2 on the list of those who received the most gratitude on Oscar night. Four spots behind him was God at number six.
In a compilation video produced by Quartz, a slew of actors and actresses can be seen getting emotional while thanking Weinstein for their Oscar win. Some of the stars include Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Penélope Cruz, Renée Zellweger, Michael Caine, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who has since alleged that she was harassed by of the producer when she was younger.
