Robbery Foiled After Smoke Shop Clerk Shoots Back

On September 28, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a masked man carrying a handgun entered a Durham, North Carolina, Smoke 4 Less — but the clerk was ready for a fight.

Before the would-be robber even entered the smoke shop, security camera footage shows the clerk pointing his gun at the door. Upon entering the store, the robber "fired a shot" at the clerk, who then "returned fire," according to WRAL.

The clerk "sustained a gunshot wound to his arm, and the man fled without taking anything."

Security camera footage from outside and inside the store captured the entire exchange from multiple angles:

The suspect is still at large. According to the Durham Police Department Facebook page: "He was described as a black male with a skinny build. He was wearing a black mask, dark clothing and brown Timberland boots. ... The man is also suspected of robbing a Hardees fast food restaurant at gunpoint 30 minutes later."
