Senator Clay Travis? 'First Amendment And Boobs' Sports Commentator Considers Senate Run

"I'm 100% running for Senate if Bob Corker doesn't run for reelection and Peyton Manning doesn't run."

Clay Travis, the sports commentator who recently outraged CNN by saying he only has faith in “the First Amendment and boobs,” is strongly considering a 2018 Senate run in Tennessee.

Travis hinted at a possible Senate run on Tuesday during his radio program "Outkick the Coverage," when he said he’s "been toying with the idea."

"I think I could win," Travis said. "[I] think if you walked around with a camera, I would make the Democrats and the Republicans both incredibly nervous. They would kill to have the recognition in the state."

Two factors that are playing into Travis' decision are if Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), who is considering retirement, decides not to run and if he’ll be allowed to continue running his radio program.

In a message to The Daily Wire, Travis confirmed what he said on his radio program and outlined a third factor in his decision.

"I'm 100% running for Senate if Bob Corker doesn't run for reelection and Peyton Manning doesn't run," Travis wrote.

While Corker and Manning are both Republicans, that does not mean that Travis would run as a Republican nor does it mean he has a history of supporting Republicans.

Travis worked on Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign and voted for Kerry in '04, Obama in '08 and '12, and Johnson in 2016 — although he called his decision to vote for Obama twice "dumb."

When talking about the 2016 presidential election results, Travis referenced his disappointment in seeing Bush win in 2000:

I was furious when George W. Bush beat Al Gore in 2000 because I’d worked on Al Gore’s presidential campaign and desperately wanted him to be president. I mean, I was sick to my stomach, just distraught over the outcome.

But you know what I did, I went to f**king class the next day and I didn’t turn into a p*ssy and start protesting George W. Bush’s presidency or demand a safe space or say I couldn’t take tests or turn in papers.

Despite his history of voting for Democratic candidates, Travis has slammed Democrats and liberals heavily and even defended President Trump following the 2016 election:
