Melissa McCarthy Wins Emmy For Her Work On SNL

On Sunday, Melissa McCarthy nabbed a well-earned award at the Creative Arts Emmy’s ceremony for her work on the most recent season of Saturday Night Live.

While McCarthy played several characters during SNL’s 42nd season — even hosting an episode — it was her ingenious portrayal of former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer that earned her praise, and the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy.

From donning high heels in order to sell Ivanka Trump’s Nordstrom collection to driving her mobile podium into crowds of reporters, McCarthy’s Spicer was a breath of fresh air in a season dominated by repetitive and lazy Trump impersonations.
