On Saturday, police arrested Mark Redwine in Washington state on second-degree murder charges in the death of his 13-year-old son Dylan. The teenager went missing in Colorado in November 2012; parts of his body were discovered in June 2013. Dylan's skull was found nearly 1.5 miles away from his home three years after his disappearance. Both Mark Redwine and his ex-wife, Elaine Hall, were also featured in a Dr. Phil episode, where both parents blamed each other for their son's death.
Redwine's indictment reveals disturbing details about his alleged murder of his son, revealing that Dylan and his brother Cory saw compromising photographs of their father. Cory told the ABC News affiliate in Denver the following:
I have seen the photos. It shows him wearing women's clothes and makeup and a diaper and then eating his feces from the diaper. It was disgusting. We couldn't believe it.
Family members and prosecutors suspect that Dylan confronted his father not only regarding the disturbing photographs, but also other issues. That confrontation led to a violent outburst that killed the teenager and led his father to dispose of the body in his trunk. Cadaver dogs subsequently found traces of a dead body in the elder Redwine's trunk, the living room, and the clothes that he wore on the day of Dylan's disappearance.
Redwine has been placed on a $1,000,000 bond in Washington and faces extradition to Colorado so he can stand trial for second-degree murder and child abuse.
