We’re almost four months into the Trump administration, and sadly, we haven’t had much to show for it. Other than executive orders and the superb nomination of now-Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, there hasn’t been much legislation passed or positions filled.

To add insult to injury, many Obama-holdovers are still in key positions in many departments, and Trump hasn’t taken a lot of action to fill these slots with his own people. For example, we still have Michael Ratney, a John Kerry-confidante, in charge of the Israeli-Palestinian portfolio at the State Department. According to Conservative Review, Ratney oversaw grants to OneVoice, a Leftist non-profit used by Barack Obama to try to defeat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the 2015 Israeli election.

Ratney’s appointment was made in March by Mark Toner, the acting State Department spokesman and Obama-holdover, and was praised by Martin Indyk, former ambassador to Israel and Obama’s “anti-Israel apologist."

It’s very plausible that the story yesterday of American diplomats claiming the Western Wall isn’t Israeli territory may be explained by this as well. The unnamed diplomat was likely an Obama-holdover, which may be the reason that the White House came out within hours to say that this position was not the one of the administration’s. In fact, it was the exact position taken in the UN when the U.S. abstained from voting in December, causing Trump to show his overt support for Israel and lambast the UN vote.

Another example of an Obama-holdover is the U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, Dana Shell-Smith. The Washington Free Beacon reported today that Smith, appointed by Obama, tweeted last week that she was frustrated by Trump’s administration.

It is worth noting that Smith’s brother, Hollywood executive Jeff Shell, raised between $50,000 and $100,000 in 2007 for Obama’s first presidential run.

Most importantly for the administration, leaks have been emerging from the government as if from a sieve. The latest incident occurred last night when The Washington Post ran a story that Trump shared classified information last week with the Russian Ambassador and Russian Foreign Minister regarding ISIS. While what Trump did may not have been illegal, as a President can declassify information at will, and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster has denied that anything said in the meeting was classified, the fact that this information is leaking is alarming, to say the least. It is possible that Obama-holdovers in the intelligence community (known as the “deep state”) may be responsible for the constant leaking in order to sabotage Trump’s presidency.

Why has Trump been moving so slowly, if at all, in firing the Obama hires? They are doing whatever they can to destroy this presidency, and Trump seems to be doing nothing about it, even to save his administration.

This administration needs to completely clean out the saboteurs, and quickly. Doing this would be a major step in helping to turn a new page in the book of the Trump administration.
