At the annual White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner Saturday, comedian Hasan Minhaj made several lazy and tasteless jokes. However, one joke in particular has some conservatives and Republicans up in arms:
"Has anyone seen Rick Perry since he became Energy Secretary? I have a feeling he’s sitting in a room full of plutonium waiting to become Spider-Man. That’s just my hunch."
Here's the thing - Rick Perry's father passed away on Thursday. Not only is the former Texas governor in mourning, but it's likely that he's waist deep in funeral planning.
Some expressed disgust on social media:

Putting him front and centre an absolute
Rick Perry sent out a series of tweets about his dad on Friday afternoon:

Let's take a step back.
Aristotle said: "Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree, and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everyone's power, and is not easy."
In short, it would be incredibly easy to rage over Minhaj's joke about Perry, but such anger would be misplaced. While it's possible Minhaj knew about Perry's situation going into the WHCA dinner, it's much more likely that he didn't. If that's indeed the case, it was an honest mistake.
There are so many things in this would about which one can be troubled. We don't need to make things up.
