A new poll in The Washington Post showed that a slim majority of people in Washington, D.C. support reinstating a gun ban, and most of those were rich white people. The ones opposed to it were poor blacks.

Fifty-one percent of D.C. residents say they are in favor of the ban; 47 percent are opposed to it. The Post breaks down the figures:

Going even further and reinstating a total ban on gun ownership is most popular among white residents (62 percent), particularly whites with college degrees (67 percent) and white women (65 percent), the poll found.

It is also popular among all residents with incomes of at least $100,000 (61 percent), residents under age 30 (57 percent) and people who have lived in the city less than 10 years (60 percent).

Support for a gun ban falls to about 4 in 10 among residents with a high school education or less, and with incomes below $50,000. African Americans, particularly those living in areas of the city that have experienced a 50 percent increase in robberies made at gunpoint this year, were also among the least supportive.

So basically a bunch of rich white liberals support taking away guns from poor blacks. This is the essence of gun control, which has a racist history in the U.S.

After the Civil War ended, the Southern states passed "Black Codes" that prevented blacks from owning guns. The Ku Klux Klan—who were founded by and mostly consisted of racist Democrats—were ardent supporters of gun control laws. And the reason is because the KKK loved to terrorize blacks, and unarmed blacks were easier to terrorize. In fact, KKK attacks against blacks were stopped when civil rights hero Robert F. Williams founded the Black Armed Guard.

In his book Negroes With Guns, Williams wrote, "I have asserted the right of Negroes to meet the violence of the Ku Klux Klan by armed self-defense—and have acted on it. It has always been an accepted right of Americans, as the history of our Western states proves, that where the law is unable, or unwilling, to enforce order, the citizens can, and must act in self-defense against lawless violence."

And the organization that stood with Williams and blacks that were being victimized by the KKK: none other the National Rifle Association, that evil gun lobby the left loves to hate.

This, of course, is not to imply that all people who support gun control are racist, but undeniably it does have a racist history in this country. Given the left's penchant of race-baiting, under their logic the rich white liberals are not supportive of allowing poor blacks to have guns because they are racist.

Most crime in this country is black-on-black crime. Naturally, it is in the best interest of the blacks surveyed to be armed to protect themselves. And Second Amendment rights activists recognize this right.
