Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts made a huge donation to local schools in the Philadelphia area that will definitely go to benefit thousands of kids.

The 25-year-old NFL star donated $200,000 that will go to installing 300 new air conditioning units in schools in Philadelphia by the start of next school year, Good Morning America reported.

“I think back to my time as a student, not being able to imagine some of the things that you guys have to go through,” Hurts reportedly said during his visit to one of the area’s schools.

“I just want to serve you guys and help in any way I can,” he added.

Philadelphia School District Superintendent Dr. Tony B. Watlington Sr. said the donation will help 5,000 students in the area and benefit 10 local schools, the outlet noted.

“More than half [of the schools] lack appropriate air-conditioning” to accommodate the environment when the “temperature climbs higher than 86 to 90 degrees,” Watlington Sr. said.

“We too often have to let our kids go home early,” he added. “And that really impacts student achievement.”

“It benefits teachers, as well, because when teachers have optimal teaching conditions, they’re more likely to return as teachers,” he added.

Hurts joined the team in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. In 2022, he earned the Second Team All-Pro honors and was named the NFL MVP runner-up, CBS Sports noted.

The 2023 season was a rollercoaster for the Eagles, who failed to return to the Super Bowl after falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs, after starting 10-1 to lose six of the next seven games.

Speaking to the press earlier this year, Hurts said the 2023 season “has taught me so much in terms of the many blessings and lessons that have come with it.”

“First thing that you do, you look yourself in the mirror and you look at what you could have been better at, how you could have led better, how you could have executed better, and those are all of the things that internally light a fire in me,” he added.

“You have challenges in front of you,” Hurts continued. “You do everything in your power to self-reflect and control what you can and learn from it. That’s my No. 1 desire, to learn from everything and be the best I can be moving forward for everyone in this locker room and in this building.”
