War Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down and retire immediately, marking the latest shakeup at the Pentagon as the Trump administration moves to reshape military leadership.
According to <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hegseth-ousts-army-chief-of-staff-gen-randy-george/">CBS News</a>, a senior War Department official said the move reflects a desire for new leadership aligned with the administration’s priorities. “We are grateful for his service, but it was time for a leadership change in the Army,” the official said.
George, a career infantry officer and West Point graduate, was nominated by former President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2023. The position typically carries a four-year term, meaning George would ordinarily have served until 2027. He previously served as vice chief of staff of the Army and as senior military assistant to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell <a href="https://x.com/SeanParnellASW/status/2039812664902271107">confirmed</a> George’s retirement, thanking him for his decades of service. George’s career included deployments during Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Gen. Christopher LaNeve, the Army’s current vice chief of staff and a former military aide to Hegseth, will serve as acting chief of staff. Parnell described LaNeve as “a battle-tested leader” trusted to carry out the administration’s vision for the Army.
The decision comes as Hegseth has removed more than a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hegseth-orders-chief-of-army-public-affairs-and-top-advisor-out-of-pentagon-staff?author=Drew+Berkemeyer&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Hegseth+Just+Canned+Top+Pentagon+Official">dozen senior military officers</a> in recent months, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-fires-joint-chiefs-chair-taps-air-force-lt-gen-dan-razin-caine-as-replacement">C.Q. Brown</a>, U.S. representative to NATO’s military council Vice Admiral <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pete-hegseth-axes-navy-official-who-promoted-gender-equality-and-womens-empowerment">Shoshana Chatfield</a>, and Defense Intelligence Agency Director Lt. Gen. <a href="https://apnews.com/article/pentagon-dia-iran-intelligence-trump-kruse-5cb1fb89b8f12c3b517f139f6d840b48">Jeffrey Kruse</a>.
While the move follows a recent dispute over an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kid-rock-sparks-military-investigation-after-wild-stunt-at-southern-white-house">Army helicopter flyover</a> near musician Kid Rock’s Nashville home, where Hegseth overruled the Army and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/army-takes-action-against-air-crews-flying-by-kid-rocks-southern-white-house-over-weekend">halted an investigation</a>, the decision to ask George to retire was not related to that incident.
George’s departure also comes amid a broader stretch of rapid developments inside the administration. On Wednesday, before the Pentagon shakeup came to light, President Donald Trump delivered a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-biggest-takeaways-from-trumps-iran-address-as-he-signals-next-moves">prime-time address</a> touting progress in ongoing operations against Iran, describing significant degradation of Iranian military capabilities while signaling the potential for further escalation, which may include Army operations.
At nearly the same time, Trump moved to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pam-bondi-out-as-ag-following-months-of-epstein-controversy-criticism-over-lack-of-prosecutions">dismiss Attorney General Pam Bondi</a>, another high-profile personnel change that underscores the fast-moving nature of the administration’s second-term agenda. Reports indicate Bondi was informed of her removal shortly before the president’s address on progress in Iran, highlighting the compressed timeline of major decisions unfolding across both national security and domestic fronts.
Taken together, the developments point to an administration operating at an accelerated pace, reshaping leadership across the military and federal government while prosecuting an increasingly assertive foreign policy. George’s ouster, in that context, is not an isolated personnel move, but part of a broader effort to align key institutions with the administration’s strategic vision.

Yesterday was one of the most important days in American legal history! Federal judge Richard Leon ordered the Trump administration to stop construction of a new White House ballroom on the grounds of the somewhat recently torn down East Wing. And he did so by using a lot of exclamation points! In fact, he used 18 of them in a 35-page opinion. That’s a lot!
If we believe his Wikipedia page picture, Leon, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court in D.C. nearly 25 years ago by George W. Bush, actually looks like Seinfeld&#8216;s George Costanza in disguise. He previously worked as a hand model, for the New York Yankees, as an architect, and in an unknown capacity at Vandelay Industries. He also loves using exclamation points in his opinions! Four times, he refuted White House arguments by saying “Please!” As in, “according to Defendants, any construction delay will undermine national security. Please!” At least he didn’t say, “b*tch, please!” but it’s implied.
 Here are some other examples of the exclamatory function in Leon’s judicial prose: “the existence of a &#8216;large hole&#8217; beside the White House is, of course, a problem of the President&#8217;s own making!”; “This clearly is not how Congress and former Presidents have managed the White House for centuries, and this Court will not be the first to hold that Congress has ceded its powers in such a significant fashion!”; and “After all, the White House does not belong to any one man, not even a president!”
There’s a large percentage of the establishment, buttressed by Boomers and permanently terrified Gen-Xers on social media, who act like Trump’s attempts to build a grand ballroom at the White House are akin to him tearing out the Rose Garden to make way for a crematorium for illegal immigrants. The only thing that makes them madder is the Melania documentary. Leon, clearly, is the judge they want! This is the “People’s House,” they argue, even though most people don’t live there and will never go there. The renovation is privately funded and, in the end, will harm absolutely no one. But the real headline here is that a major judge has used exclamation points in a significant ruling like he’s a middle-schooler writing a mash note.
Imagine John Marshall using exclamation points, or Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., or Thurgood Marshall. During their long and unlikely friendship, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia never used exclamations in their judicial writings. William Howard Taft never used them. Also, he never got stuck in a bathtub!
But maybe American judicial writing would have been more exciting and easier to study if judges had been using exclamation points all along. According to Marbury v. Madison, which established judicial review, &#8220;It is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is!” That’s pretty awesome. Rand and Ron Paul would have gone to bat hard for McCulloch v. Maryland in 1819: &#8220;The power to tax involves the power to destroy!&#8221;
&#8220;Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal!” Brown v. Board of Education would go. That’s for sure. John Marshall Harlan’s brave dissent in Plessy v. Ferguson might have carried more weight if he’d written: &#8220;The Constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens!” As Miranda v. Arizona might say, “You have the right to remain silent!” Please!
I do exclaim: we all know how this will end. President Trump will ignore the court’s ruling or find a way around it. He’s going to build his big, beautiful ballroom. And then he and his administration will say to Judge Leon: Bye, Felicia!

Judge’s Anti-Trump Tone Raises Questions After One Over-The-Top Move

As the US bombing campaign in Iran extends into its fifth week and Tehran maintains its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz and the global economy, what is Trump’s next move? Will Trump escalate by sending in ground forces, or will he look for an off-ramp?
Trump has several military options to try to coerce Iran to open the Strait, but his best move may be to declare victory and go home.
Contrary to most of the mainstream media coverage, the United States has achieved its objectives in the war. Iran will be much weaker after this war than it was one month ago. Intelligence analysts assess threats based on capability and intent. While Tehran’s intent might remain hostile to the United States, its capability is greatly diminished.
The only real remaining, serious challenge is Iran’s continued threats to the Strait of Hormuz and the broader global economy. Ideally, the United States would open the Strait before ending the war, but that is easier said than done. There is no purely military option to force the Strait open. As long as Iran possesses some drones and threatens to fire them, many commercial shippers will assess the risk of transiting the Strait as too high. Even a naval escort cannot guarantee protection against stray Iranian drones and missiles.
In short, reopening the Strait requires Iran’s consent.
There are three possible pathways to change Iran’s mind. The first pathway is regime change. A new government in Tehran may be more pliable. But whether the Iranian people rise up and seize power is ultimately beyond the control of the American military. While this would be a desirable outcome, the Trump administration has been clear that this is not a must-have objective of its military campaign.
The second pathway is through coercion, convincing Iran’s leaders that the United States will escalate the war until they open the Strait. This is where the deployment of U.S. ground forces comes into play. Trump could order the U.S. military to seize Kharg Island, a small island near Iran’s coast through which 90% of Iranian oil exports pass. By controlling Iran’s energy exports, Trump would essentially be threatening that if the rest of the world cannot freely trade energy through the Strait, then neither can Tehran.
Seizing the island would be straightforward, but holding it would be challenging. The island lies near Iran’s coast, well within range of Iranian missiles and drones. U.S. forces on the island would be vulnerable to Iranian attacks in the coming days, weeks, and maybe months. The introduction of ground forces could begin to look like a quagmire. We know from Trump’s “peace through strength” doctrine that he is willing to use military force in short, sharp, decisive ways, but he is wary of long, drawn-out ground operations without a clear end in sight. He will be reluctant to introduce ground forces.
Some have also argued that Trump will send in ground forces to seize stockpiles of Iran’s enriched nuclear fuel, but this is unnecessary. Iran cannot enrich this fuel to weapons-grade without enrichment facilities, and Iran’s major nuclear facilities were indeed “obliterated” last summer. If Iran attempts to rebuild the facilities, Washington can simply bomb them again.
Another military option, as Trump has repeatedly threatened, would be to strike Iran’s energy infrastructure. The purpose of this course of action would also be coercion. To prevent the destruction of its economic lifeline, Tehran may decide to reopen the Strait instead.
But Trump’s repeated threats have yet to yield the desired effect, and actually following through on the threat would be counterproductive. It would reduce Iran’s incentive to open the Strait for others. It would also further reduce the world’s supply of energy, sending prices ever higher, and causing further damage to the global economy.
This leaves the final option, declaring victory and going home. As noted above, the Trump administration has succeeded in greatly weakening Iran and can credibly declare victory at any time.
In this scenario, the strategy for opening the Strait is unclear, but it may ultimately rest on Iran pursuing its own self-interest. If Washington and Israel stop shooting tomorrow, will Tehran keep the Strait closed forever? It will likely threaten the Strait for at least a couple of additional weeks to exact a price and deter future attacks, but what about beyond that?
If Washington and Jerusalem have ceased hostilities for weeks, but Tehran continues to shoot at commercial shipping in the Strait, it will unite most of the rest of the world against it.
Moreover, the biggest challenge facing Iran’s new leaders will be consolidating power at home. Continuing a one-sided war against the global economy would be counterproductive to that objective. At some point, Tehran itself may see that it benefits from a return to business as usual.
In short, there is reason for cautious optimism. The most desirable and plausible scenario at this point may be an end to the war in the coming weeks that sees America victorious, Iran weakened, and the global economy reopened.

NASHVILLE—It was a humid night in June 2024 when Matt Carney encountered a pair of men rummaging through his truck.
Carney, who owned the popular chicken restaurant Smokin&#8217; Thighs, went to confront the men. As he did, they sped out of the parking lot, striking Carney and knocking him onto the street. As police hunted for the men behind the fatal hit-and-run, Carney succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Eventually, Nashville police arrested Ulises Martinez, first confirmed by The Daily Wire to be an illegal immigrant from Mexico, and charged him with murder over the incident. Martinez <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigrant-confesses-to-killing-nashville-man-in-hit-and-run" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a> to police that he was driving the car that fatally struck Carney, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement slapped a detainer on him.
Smokin&#8217; Thighs, which Carney built from the ground up, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/saying-goodbye-is-hard-nashville-restaurant-closes-doors-after-owner-killed-by-illegal-immigrant" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a few short months after his death. Martinez has yet to face justice as his case <a href="https://sci.ccc.nashville.gov/Search/CriminalHistory?P_CASE_IDENTIFIER=ULISES%5EMARTINEZ%5E09131999%5E624024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">makes</a> its way through the Davidson County court system.
The case quickly made headlines as then-candidate Donald Trump talked about the incident as he warned about a “migrant crime wave.”
“Look at what’s happening to our cities. Our cities are being overrun,” Trump said. “On July 4th, a 42-year-old Nashville man died after he tried to stop an illegal alien from stealing tools out of his truck. The illegal alien did a number on this man that nobody could even believe. The police officers said one of the most vicious crimes they’ve ever seen.”

The case illustrated how illegal immigration can impact even deeply red states like Tennessee. While Joe Biden was in office, conservative states struggled to respond as the federal government released millions of illegal immigrants into the United States. With the Trump administration, some Republican lawmakers see a golden opportunity to crack down on illegal immigration.
<h4>‘Once In A Generation Opportunity’ </h4>
Since Trump’s return to the White House, states like California and Minnesota have made headlines for resisting the president’s immigration agenda. Republican leaders in Tennessee, spurred on by cases like Carney’s, want the Volunteer State to be different.
“We have what I refer to as kind of a once in a generation opportunity, given the Trump administration&#8217;s emphasis on removing illegal immigrants and mass deportation,” Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson told The Daily Wire.
“When we look at states like Michigan, New York, and California, others that are literally fighting the Trump administration on those efforts, we wanted to send a very clear message that we were not only going to cooperate, but do everything we could to help make them successful in their efforts in Tennessee,” he added.
Johnson, alongside other state Republican leaders like House Speaker Cameron Sexton and House Majority Leader William Lamberth, introduced an immigration package at the beginning of the 2026 legislative session focused on reducing illegal immigration.
The legislative package, crafted with input from White House officials, includes bills that would make illegal immigration a crime in Tennessee; mandate legal status for public employees and citizenship verification for those who receive public benefits; protect ICE agents from being doxed; and increase cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration officials.
Sexton says he had discussions with the White House after they began collaborating on a project to clean up crime in Memphis. He praised federal officials for their input on the legislative package and said they viewed Tennessee “as being the beacon of showing other states how to do something comprehensive and really transform your state.”
The White House said that it was happy to speak with all state lawmakers about how to fight illegal immigration.
“Illegal aliens should not be receiving federal welfare benefits while hardworking Americans foot the bill,” a White House official told The Daily Wire. “The President’s entire Intergovernmental Affairs team has been willing to speak with state legislators seeking advice on how to effectively enact the President’s agenda and protect the American people from fraud and abuse perpetrated by illegal aliens.”
<h4>A ‘Beacon’ To The Nation </h4>
Republican leaders are confident that most of the bills will make it across the finish line before the legislative session wraps up next month. The proposals are focused on increasing cooperation with the federal government and safeguarding taxpayer dollars.
One of the <a href="https://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default?BillNumber=HB1710&amp;ga=114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposals</a> making its way through the legislature would mandate that local governments verify legal residency before doling out benefits. It would also mandate reporting to ICE applicants whose citizenship couldn’t be verified. Under that bill, the Tennessee attorney general would be empowered to withhold shared tax revenue from entities that refuse to restrict public benefits.
“I want to help our people who are Tennessee citizens, who are here legally and lawfully, that need help and assistance,” Sexton told The Daily Wire, noting that reports show 20% of public housing is taken up by illegal immigrants. “That&#8217;s taken up space from someone who is here legally and lawfully in a Tennessee resident who&#8217;s homeless and on the streets, that&#8217;s a problem.”
Another <a href="https://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default?BillNumber=HB1705&amp;ga=114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">key plank</a> of the package is making <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-the-law-that-would-make-companies-who-hire-illegal-aliens-feel-the-pain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">E-Verify</a> — a free platform from the Department of Homeland Security that employers use to authenticate the legal status of potential employees — mandatory for all state and local government employers, including schools. The proposals come as reports of illegal immigrants being hired as police officers throughout the country. Local entities that don’t implement E-Verify could lose out on shared sales tax revenue.
Some of the proposals are intended to assess the monetary cost of illegal immigration in the state, Sexton told The Daily Wire. He noted that the monetary costs of illegal immigration for the Volunteer State could be as high as $700 million.
One <a href="https://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default?BillNumber=HB0793&amp;GA=114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposal</a> from Lamberth would instruct schools to count how many illegal immigrants are in Tennessee schools. That would allow officials to determine how much taxpayers were paying to educate kids brought across the border illegally. Originally, the proposal would have required parents to pay tuition if they were illegally in the United States or disenroll their kids.
Other bills would increase the frequency of reporting for state agencies to increase tracking of illegal immigrants by both law enforcement and for the state finance report to produce a report on the cost of illegal immigration, drawing from places like schools, prisons, hospitals, and social services.
Another series of bills would require lawful status for nurses, teachers, contractors, and all licensed professions. One from Johnson and Rep. Jason Zachary <a href="https://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default?BillNumber=HB1706&amp;ga=114" target="_blank" rel="noopener">would</a> make it a crime for a person illegally in the country to operate a commercial motor vehicle. Other components would make it a requirement to take the driver’s test in English and make it impossible for an illegal immigrant to register a vehicle with the state.
Sexton noted Republicans were also working on legislation to make sure reciprocal licenses are not issued to those from states where citizenship is not verified.
“If you come from a state that does not verify your legal status, then before you get the reciprocal license, you&#8217;re gonna have to show the state of Tennessee that you&#8217;re here legally and lawfully and if you can&#8217;t, then we&#8217;re not giving your license,” he said.
One bill sponsored by Johnson and Lamberth would make it a crime for someone with a final order of deportation to be in the state of Tennessee.
“If that deportation order has been issued for whatever reason and you&#8217;re out and about, but you set foot in Tennessee, we can arrest you and charge you,” Johnson told The Daily Wire, noting that the proposal was crafted to be in line with the Supreme Court on federal immigration enforcement.
Another <a href="https://capitol.tn.gov/Bills/114/Bill/SB1486.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposal</a> would further require local law enforcement to hold illegal immigrants arrested for ICE.
<h4>Cost To Tennesseans </h4>
Thanks to reporting requirements implemented by the legislature last year, district attorneys across the state must produce a report every year on the number of crimes illegal immigrants are arrested and charged with.
The <a href="https://www.tndagc.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/2025-PC998-Immigration-Report-Final-2.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> for 2025 found that there were 11,344 illegal immigrants charged or convicted of a crime during the year. The defendants came from 119 different countries and were charged with a total of 21,648 charges. The report identified  2,183 violent offenses, including 41 murders.
Those crimes are in the minds of lawmakers as they advance their immigration package.
Johnson believes that the immigration package from the General Assembly will “demonstrate to our constituents and to the Trump administration that we welcome your efforts to come in and get violent, illegal aliens out of our communities.”
He noted that presidents have vowed for years to secure the border, but he said Trump was the first one serious about doing it. He said Trump is “serious about it” and “we want to be a good partner with [him] and his administration.”
Sexton said that even one crime by an illegal against a Tennessean is unacceptable.
“You still had thousands of victims in Tennessee who became victims because of an illegal, who came into our country illegally, and they&#8217;re still here,” he said. “One victim by one illegal immigrant is one too many still, so I don&#8217;t care if it&#8217;s a 3% number, a 1% number, or a 10% number. Just one crime committed by an illegal against someone in Tennessee should not happen.”

Red State Seizes ‘Once-in-a-Generation’ Chance To Crack Down On Illegal Immigration

Airport travelers and TSA agents took a sigh of relief when news broke that President Donald Trump had authorized funding for TSA via executive order, but the airport chaos left in its wake will not be fixed immediately.
Aviation experts indicate that noticeable improvements in security lines could begin within <a href="https://www.aol.com/articles/long-tsa-return-normal-shutdown-204351767.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">24 to 48</a> hours once funding is restored on Monday and back pay reaches the roughly 50,000 TSA officers who have gone without pay since the shutdown began in mid-February.
The shutdown caused dramatic callouts among TSA officials, with some airports reporting over <a href="https://www.aol.com/articles/tsa-forced-consolidate-lanes-may-120639220.html">40%</a> of officers not showing up for work. Many officers are expected to return quickly once they receive confirmation of full pay. However, full recovery to pre-shutdown staffing levels and typical wait times may take several days to weeks to return. Almost 500 TSA agents did not just call out sick; they quit their jobs. 
Longer wait times will persist as TSA scrambles to hire and onboard replacements. Due to the training it takes to become a TSA agent, it could be months before the program is fully restored. It takes a TSA agent <a href="https://x.com/DHSgov/status/2035521390514680155">4-6 months</a> before they are fully onboarded, trained, and able to work independently. 
TSA Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl has <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tsa-warns-longstanding-shutdown-fallout-even-after-funding-clears-major-event-could-make-it-worse">warned</a> that the impacts will be “long-standing,” with payroll processing delays and reduced morale continuing to affect operations even after the Senate-approved funding bill clears final hurdles. &#8220;I can tell you right now that the reverberations that will be felt from this will be long-standing. They will continue for days after we get a re-appropriation and funding, particularly for the department for TSA.” The administrator added, &#8220;But we&#8217;re working as quickly as possible with our partners to make sure once we get that money, we&#8217;ll hit the ground running and get that into our people&#8217;s pockets as quickly as possible.&#8221;
TSA officers faced significant financial pressure, with many relying on food donations and taking second jobs while continuing their work. Several communities even set up GoFundMe Accounts to help the agents. “Because the Democrats have recklessly created a true National Crisis, I am using my authorities under the Law to protect our Great Country, as I always will do!” he explained on Truth Social. “Therefore, I am going to sign an Order instructing the Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, to immediately pay our TSA Agents in order to address this Emergency Situation, and to quickly stop the Democrat Chaos at the Airports. It is not an easy thing to do, but I am going to do it! I want to thank our hardworking TSA Agents and also, ICE, for the incredible help they have given us at the Airports. I will not allow the Radical Left Democrats to hold our Country hostage any longer.”
While TSA is now temporarily funded, the partial shutdown negotiations drag on, with the House expected to kill the shutdown deal passed by the Senate, arguing it cannot be passed without full funding for ICE and Border Patrol.

The Justice Department launched a probe Thursday into multiple women’s prisons across California and Maine, where transgender-identifying men have been accused of rape and making other sexual advances toward female inmates. 
The investigation from the Justice Department will look at whether the states violated the constitutional rights of the imprisoned women with their policies of allowing men to be placed in women&#8217;s prisons. One of the prisons under scrutiny is the Central California Women’s Facility in Madera County, where a man who served time at the facility was charged with raping a female inmate. 
“Keeping men out of women’s prisons is not only common sense – it’s a matter of safety and constitutional rights,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. “The Trump Administration will not stand by if governors are facilitating the abuse of biological women under the guise of inclusion.”
At the Maine Correctional Center in Windham, a 27-year-old man named Andrew Balcer, <a href="https://apps1.web.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/correctionssearch/detail.pl?mdoc_number1=156589">serving</a> 40 years for murdering his parents, is currently housed at the women’s unit. State <a href="https://apps1.web.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/correctionssearch/detail.pl?mdoc_number1=156589">records</a> list him as “female” and standing 6’1’’ tall and 310 pounds. The man has been accused of forcibly kissing incarcerated women and offering to impregnate them, <a href="https://www.sunjournal.com/2026/03/04/women-say-they-are-being-harassed-by-transgender-inmate-at-maine-prison/">according</a> to the Sun Journal.

In a case out of Madera County, California, a 53-year-old man named Tremaine Carroll was charged with rape after he was placed at the Central California Women’s Facility. A fellow inmate was found to be pregnant, and two other women also accused him of rape.
&#8220;After his first cellmate became pregnant and was moved to Los Angeles, two other cellmates of his had complained that he had raped them, so we have filed rape charges against this inmate,&#8221; <a href="https://abc7chicago.com/post/pronoun-use-center-rape-case-involving-former-chowchilla-central-california-womens-facility-prisoner-tremaine-carroll/15696730/">said</a> District Attorney Sally Moreno in December 2024.
The case is still working its way through the court system, but court officials have mandated that female pronouns be used for Carroll. Court records indicate that Tremaine has had a number of different lawyers and is in the process of getting a new lawyer appointed by the county from an outside legal firm.  
Thanks to a law sponsored by far-Left state Senator Scott Wiener and <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200SB132">signed</a> by Governor Gavin Newsom, at least 45 males who identify as transgender have been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-dems-vote-to-keep-male-sex-offenders-in-female-prisons">transferred</a> into female prisons since the law was implemented in September 2020. Last year, state Democrats rejected a proposal to keep male sex criminals out of female prisons. 
“California’s Transgender Respect, Agency, and Dignity Act has provided none of these qualities to the female inmates of state prisons who have been forced to share space with biological men who are violent felons,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California. “Our Constitution protects women from having their civil rights violated by harmful state legislation wrapped in the language of ‘equity’ and ‘progress.’”
The California Institution for Women in San Bernardino County is also being scrutinized.  
&#8220;Despite the Department of Justice&#8217;s claims, this is yet another politically motivated, predetermined investigation designed to target states that stand up to the Trump Administration and its abuses,&#8221; <a href="https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/justice-department-investigates-prison-housing-policies-maine-california/97-f2623a63-f421-4c62-a899-17b138fb2d8b">said</a> Democratic Maine Governor Janet Mills. 
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said her office will ensure that women are protected from male inmates. 
“Under my leadership, the Civil Rights Division will not allow women incarcerated in jails or prisons to be subject to unconstitutional risks of harm from male inmates,” she said. “These investigations will uncover whether the dangerous national trend of housing men in women’s prisons has resulted in violations of women’s constitutional rights.”

The Environmental Protection Agency temporarily is set to cut regulations on fuel blended with ethanol in an effort to address gas prices which have soared in recent weeks due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.
President Donald Trump&#8217;s EPA <a href="https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-fortifies-domestic-fuel-supply-provides-americans-relief-pump-approving-nationwide">said</a> on Wednesday that it is waiving federal restrictions to allow the nationwide sale of gas blended with 15%, commonly referred to as E15. The sale of E15 is barred in much of the United States during the summer months to cut back on air pollution. The EPA is also removing &#8220;all federal impediments&#8221; on the sale of E10 gas. The Trump administration&#8217;s move to free up the sale of E10 and E15 gas is set to take effect on May 1 and remain in place until May 20, and it could be extended.
“EPA is working with our federal partners to reduce unnecessary costs and uncertainty and ensure that gas prices remain affordable for all Americans through the summer. This emergency action will provide American families with relief by increasing fuel supply and consumer choice,” said EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. “President Trump has prioritized ensuring American families have an affordable domestic energy supply. The Trump Administration has made great strides on this during the first year and will continue to do so.”
Gas prices climbed to a national average of nearly $4 per gallon this week, marking the highest nationwide average since 2022, according to <a href="https://gasprices.aaa.com/">AAA</a>. Diesel prices, meanwhile, have jumped around 40% to an average of $5.37 per gallon. The drastic rise in fuel prices is due to the ongoing war in Iran as the Iranian regime&#8217;s attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz has effectively shut down passage in the strait where around 25% of the world&#8217;s oil must pass through.
While the United States doesn&#8217;t import much of its oil from the Middle East, the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global oil markets, causing prices to rise throughout the world. Brent crude, the international benchmark price point for oil, spiked to nearly $120 per barrel in recent weeks after it sat between $60-$70 per barrel for most of 2025. As of Wednesday afternoon, Brent crude was at $98 per barrel.
President Trump has acknowledged that Americans are feeling some more pain at the pump, but said in the early days of the Iran war that the operation is &#8220;far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit.&#8221; Trump added that gas prices would drop &#8220;very rapidly&#8221; once the major military operation had concluded.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on March 10, &#8220;The recent increase in oil and gas prices is temporary. And this operation will result in lower gas prices in the long-term.&#8221;
Some of America&#8217;s allies — including United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan — suggested earlier this week that they are prepared to help the United States secure the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump Moves To Address Rising Gas Prices As Iran War Disrupts Global Market

On Tuesday, President Trump announced that America has achieved a form of regime change in Iran. 
To a certain extent, that is correct. President Trump has already announced that the war has effectively been won. From an American perspective, he&#8217;s right; the war has been won —on the military level. Iran has done minimal damage by any sort of standard to American forces and interests.
Meanwhile, Iran itself has been pummeled to dust. The ballistic missile program has basically been destroyed. Their nuclear facilities have been pounded again. Their drone program has been blown up. The only thing Iran can do at this point is harass people.
They can harass their neighbors with occasional missile and drone strikes. They can disrupt some shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
We&#8217;re not done yet, as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has made clear, saying:
<blockquote>And that&#8217;s why we see ourselves as part of this negotiation as well. We negotiate with bombs. You have a choice. As we loiter over the top of Tehran, as the president talked about, about your future, the president has made it clear that you will not have a nuclear weapon. The War Department agrees. Our job is to ensure that. 
And so we&#8217;re keeping our hand on that throttle as long as it&#8217;s hard as is necessary to ensure the interests of the United States of America are achieved on that battlefield. This is not Iraq and Afghanistan. This is not a president who&#8217;s interested in vague end states. He&#8217;s been very clear with us about what we need to accomplish, creating the conditions for them never to have a nuclear capability. And that&#8217;s exactly what we&#8217;re doing in historic fashion.</blockquote>

What would victory look like for the United States? There are two types of victory here: political victory and actual victory.
We may already have an actual victory. Let&#8217;s say that Iran ends up falling in the next couple of years; that victory will belong to President Trump, because we will have weakened all of the foundations upon which the Iranian regime stands, in the same way that the fall of the Soviet Union belonged to President Reagan.
It won&#8217;t be a political victory because you need an exclamation point for a political victory, some way to say we didn&#8217;t just win; Iran also lost.
Where is Iran right now? Did they totally lose? On the one hand, we can make the argument that simply to survive would be the regime winning, that survival amounts to not losing. 
 
Israel and America&#8217;s other regional allies would have to continue to exercise overwatch of the regime to ensure they don&#8217;t renew their missile, drone, and nuclear programs.
But we do have to ask: Is not losing really a victory for Iran? It might be for the moment, but not for long, because Iran would remain isolated, throttled, and devoid of basic resources. Remember, before this war, there were already millions of people in the streets protesting the regime; the rial was running at 0.00001 to a dollar, and they had so little water that they were moving millions of people out of Tehran. They were actually evacuating their own capital.
Can this regime continue to limp along on that basis for many more years?
The question becomes whether or not President Trump can force the Iranians into a deal that achieves political victory, a good end state that he can go home and brag about. Despite members of the media and Democratic politicians saying they don&#8217;t actually believe that President Trump has been talking to Iran, it has now been confirmed that there are negotiations between the two countries indirectly.
What kind of concessions are they actually making? The devil remains in the details. President Trump said yesterday that Iran has agreed we will never have a nuclear weapon. But if they had to retain a nuclear program that could easily be turned toward weapons development, that&#8217;s not good enough. Will they retain enriched uranium? We&#8217;ll have to find out. President Trump has made clear that, in his view, they must never have a nuclear weapon.
President Trump has apparently released a list of demands: All existing nuclear capabilities will be dismantled — which I assume means all of their nuclear plans — a commitment that Iran will never strive to obtain nuclear weapons, which would have to be enforceable; no material will ever be enriched on Iranian soil; all enriched material would be handed it over to the IAEA in a short-term timetable to be defined between the parties; Natanz and Fordo would be decommissioned and also destroyed. The IAEA would have full access to all information within Iran&#8217;s borders. Iran would completely abandon its terror proxy network. Iran would stop financing and arming proxies in the region. The Strait of Hormuz would remain open, would be a free maritime zone; no one would block it.
As for the missile program, according to the talking points put out by the administration, there would be a decision at a later period, but they would have to limit the quantity and the range, and future use of missiles would have to be for self-defense purposes only.
In return for all of that, theoretically, Iran would have sanctions lifted and receive assistance in developing a civilian nuclear program in Bushehr. Basically, we would build them low-level nuclear programs for energy, and the threat of snapback sanctions would be removed.
I have a question: Does it sound like Iran is ready to do any of that? I have some very, very serious doubts.
At the same time, President Trump does not want to leave the rest of the region subject to the whims of the mullahs. President Trump&#8217;s strongest support for continued action, at this point, is coming from the Saudis, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/24/us/politics/saudi-prince-iran-trump.html">The New York Times</a>:
<blockquote>In recent days, Mr. Trump has given more serious consideration to a military operation to seize Kharg Island, the hub of Iran&#8217;s oil infrastructure. Such an operation with airborne armed forces or an amphibious assault by Marines would be immensely dangerous. But Prince Mohammed has advocated ground operations in his conversations with Mr. Trump, according to people briefed by American officials.</blockquote>
I actually agree with Mohammed bin Salman&#8217;s assessment here. If America were to grab control of Kharg Island, the actual capacity of Iran to survive — even midterm — drops dramatically.
What comes next? The answer, as it has always been, is in the hands of the Iranian government. Remember, Iran could have, at any time for 50 years, reintegrated into the world economy by ending its global ambitions, its support for terrorism, and its nuclear program. They have not done that.
Maybe they&#8217;re willing to moderate now. I doubt it, but there are still plenty of levers left for the United States to pull. President Trump has already shown a high willingness to do just that.

Special operations, limited in duration; this is not the kind of “quagmire boots on the ground” stuff people were talking about. We&#8217;re not talking about 100,000 troops occupying Iran indefinitely. At most, we are talking about a ground operation to take away territory used to target the Strait of Hormuz, to take away the island.
That&#8217;s probably what we are talking about here.

Most Americans, including Democrats and independents, want to change a federal government policy allowing abortion pills to be mailed with impunity throughout the United States, according to polling obtained by The Daily Wire. 
Over two-thirds (67%) of Americans surveyed said they would support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reinstating an in-person doctor visit requirement for accessing an abortion pill via the mail, polling for the 85 Fund conducted by CRC Research showed. That included 72% of Republicans, 68% of independents, and 63% of Democrats. About 27% of Americans opposed reinstating the in-person requirement. 
Pro-life leaders, who have blamed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/despite-dobbs-more-babies-are-still-being-aborted-in-the-united-states">increasing abortion rates</a> across the country on mail-order abortions, touted the polling as a reason for the FDA to revoke the Biden-era policy allowing pills to be shipped without a doctor’s visit. 
“It&#8217;s overwhelmingly clear that Americans support reinstating the in-person dispensing requirement to protect women taking mifepristone,” Christina Francis, the CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs, told The Daily Wire. “As physicians caring for women and babies every day, we see the devastating impact that the FDA&#8217;s relaxed standards are having on women&#8217;s health and safety.”

The polling was conducted from March 12-18 and sampled 1600 likely voters randomly selected from opt-in panel participants. Those surveyed were 33% Republican, 34% independent, and 32% of Democrats, with 31% identifying as pro-life, 39% as pro-choice, and 27% as somewhere in between.
Seventy percent of those surveyed also said they would support the FDA making an in-person medical evaluation required before and after taking an abortion pill, while 62% said they were more likely to support an in-person requirement after learning that some men were coercing women into having abortions. Nearly half of Americans (49%) said they would be less likely to support their representative if they supported abortion pills being shipped without a medical evaluation.

The Trump administration has promised to conduct a safety study of the abortion drug, but pro-life advocates have grown impatient. They say the allowance of mail-order abortion pills allows women and leftist activists to ship pills into states where medication abortion is technically illegal. The FDA has said that reimposing the in-person requirement would interfere with the ongoing safety study. 
A Georgia woman was recently charged after investigators said she took eight abortion pills before her baby was delivered alive and survived for about an hour. &#8220;I know my infant is suffering, because I am the one who did the abortion. I want her to die,&#8221; the woman allegedly told nurses at the hospital.
Tens of thousands of abortions have been carried out in states like Texas and Tennessee with pills shipped in by activists and abortion doctors. Pro-life groups say the FDA policy allowing pills to be shipped without the in-person requirement effectively nullifies state laws.
States like Louisiana <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blatantly-unlawful-red-state-challenges-fda-over-mail-order-abortions">have sued</a> the FDA to reverse the mail-order regulations. That lawsuit was joined by a woman named Rosalie Markezich, a woman who says her ex-boyfriend ordered illegal abortion pills from California and then coerced her to take them to end the life of her unborn child.
“Voters could not be speaking any more clearly on abortion drugs flooding the mail, driving up abortion rates and undermining protections for women and children,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser told The Daily Wire. “They recognize this is an urgent public health and safety crisis that demands a return to common sense, like in-person doctor visits that were required under the first Trump administration.” 
Previous polling has found similar results, including one from Cygnal that found large majorities of Republican primary voters said they would be less enthusiastic to vote in the midterm elections if GOP leaders shy away from pro-life policies
&#8220;A broad consensus exists around the dangers of mail-order abortion drugs and the risks they pose to women’s health and safety,” said David Bereit, the executive director of the Life Leadership Conference. “A majority of Americans, across the political spectrum, express serious concern that eliminating in-person medical oversight increases the likelihood of complications, coercion, and undetected abuse.”

A conservative social media personality known for his outspoken support of President Donald Trump has landed a new role in the administration.
Nick Adams, an Australian-American commentator who frequently describes himself online as Trump’s “favorite author,” announced Tuesday that he has been appointed as “special presidential envoy for American tourism, exceptionalism, and values.”
The role comes after Adams’ reported nomination to serve as U.S. ambassador to Malaysia fell apart in recent months. “President Trump has appointed Nick Adams to the position of Special Presidential Envoy for American Tourism, Exceptionalism, and Values,” Adams wrote on <a href="https://x.com/NickAdamsinUSA/status/2036397725785178306">X</a>. “In this role, Mr. Adams will play a vital role in revitalizing America’s diplomatic position as a beacon of free speech, the freedom to worship, and a land of unlimited opportunity.”

In a statement to The Daily Wire, Adams emphasized the administration’s focus on upcoming international events. “The President wants me to let the world know we are ready to welcome them to celebrate with us,” Adams said. “No one can put on a better show than this President. As the world knows, America does everything bigger and better.”
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said Adams is “an America First patriot who will represent our country well as we celebrate our Nation’s 250th anniversary of independence,” adding that the administration looks forward to working with him to “showcase and advance America’s excellence across the world stage.”
Adams rose to national prominence in conservative circles through his prolific social media presence, where he has built a following with a loudly pro-Trump persona and frequent commentary on American culture and politics.
His appointment to a newly-created envoy role highlights the administration’s continued focus on promoting American identity and influence abroad ahead of a series of major international events, including the country’s 250th anniversary, the FIFA World Cup, and the Olympic Games, where the United States is expected to take center stage.

An American citizen held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan for over a year could soon be flying home thanks to efforts from the Trump administration in coordination with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Colorado native Dennis Coyle, 64, had spent decades working as an academic researcher in Afghanistan, but on January 27, 2025, he was taken into custody by the Taliban and held without charges, <a href="https://jamesfoleyfoundation.org/hostage/dennis-coyle/#gsc.tab=0">according</a> to the James Foley Foundation, an American hostage advocacy group. After nearly 14 months in near-solitary confinement, Coyle&#8217;s release was finally secured, Trump&#8217;s special envoy for hostage response, Adam Boehler, told Fox News on Tuesday.
&#8220;President Trump made clear: the United States will not tolerate the unjust detention of its citizens—anywhere,&#8221; Boehler <a href="https://x.com/TreyYingst/status/2036424322428842210">said</a>. &#8220;His personal determination —executed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a fully aligned interagency team — has driven a shift to accountability, pressure, and results.&#8221;

Since being taken into custody last January, Coyle&#8217;s elderly mother and three sisters have worked to help secure his release, raising concerns about his health. It&#8217;s unlikely the American has received proper medical care, according to a <a href="https://freedenniscoyle.com/">website</a> dedicated to raising awareness of Coyle&#8217;s situation. Coyle lived in Kabul after first arriving in Afghanistan in the early 2000s &#8220;to survey Afghanistan’s rich linguistic diversity and help Afghan communities develop resources in their own languages.&#8221; The American citizen had worked in Afghanistan for nearly 20 years before and kept up to date on his visas and work permits.
&#8220;We recognize the persistence of Dennis Coyle’s three sisters, whose advocacy helped drive this outcome. We recognize the efforts of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, partners in bringing Dennis home,&#8221; Boehler added.
Following the United States&#8217; messy withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 under former President Joe Biden, the Taliban kidnapped multiple U.S. citizens and held them in solitary confinement, allowing the Americans to maintain minimal communications with their families and the outside world.
Coyle is now the sixth American hostage to be released by the Taliban since Trump came back into the White House, and he &#8220;joins over 100 Americans who have been freed&#8221; throughout the world since Trump was sworn in on January 20, 2025, according to the State Department.
U.S. citizens Ryan Corbett and William McKenty were released by the Taliban last January following negotiations started by the Biden administration that came to fruition under Trump. Then, in March of last year, Americans George Glezmann and Faye Hall were released. Amir Amiri was freed from Taliban custody last September after nine months in confinement.
The State Department said on Tuesday that &#8220;more work needs to be done&#8221; to bring home Americans still held by the Taliban, including <a href="https://jamesfoleyfoundation.org/hostage/mahmoud-habibi/#gsc.tab=0">Mahmoud Habibi</a> and author <a href="https://jamesfoleyfoundation.org/hostage/paul-overby/#gsc.tab=0">Paul Overby</a>. Habibi, who was Afghanistan&#8217;s former director of civil aviation, was abducted from his vehicle and arrested by the Taliban in 2022. He is believed to still be in custody, but the Taliban denies that it is holding him. Overby was last seen while conducting research for a book in Afghanistan in 2014.
&#8220;The Taliban must end their practice of hostage diplomacy,&#8221; the State Department added.

Small business owners are overwhelmingly satisfied with the Trump administration’s economic policies, with one exception: tariffs. 
A new survey the Daily Wire obtained exclusively from Echelon Insights for Advancing American Freedom found that 88% of small business owners say conditions are going “very well” or “somewhat well,” and many expect that stability to continue. Another 45% said they expect conditions to improve over the next 12 months. 
Respondents credited the permanent extension of the 2017 Trump tax cuts as a key driver of their success under Trump&#8217;s second term. The poll found that 60% of small business owners said maintaining those tax cuts would help their business &#8220;a lot&#8221; or &#8220;some,&#8221; including 17% who said &#8220;a lot.&#8221; By contrast, 58% said allowing the tax cuts to expire and raising taxes would have negatively impacted their operations.
Tax relief ranked as the top policy priority, with 28% of respondents naming it as the single most helpful action Washington could take.
Tariffs, however, emerged as a major concern. According to the survey, 42% of small business owners said tariffs have increased the cost of supplies, 36% reported raising prices for customers as a result, and 26% said they had to change suppliers. When asked to name the most helpful policy change, 19% specifically called for reducing or eliminating tariffs.
Democrats have repeatedly attacked President Donald Trump’s trade policies, arguing that tariffs function as a tax on American businesses and consumers. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said, “His tariff chaos is eating away at retailers, restaurants, small businesses, and it is still estimated that these tariffs will cost thousands of dollars for each family each year.” 
Trump has acknowledged his tariffs could bring “a little pain,” a sentiment reiterated by members of his administration. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called the tariff implementation a &#8220;detox period.” 
Vice President JD Vance framed the issue in broader economic terms.
“Incurring a huge amount of debt to buy things that other countries make for us … is not a recipe for economic prosperity, it’s not a recipe for low prices, and it’s not a recipe for good jobs for the United States of America,” Vance said. “We cannot keep going down the globalist Joe Biden pathway where we have $2 trillion of peacetime debt and deficits.”
The Trump administration says tariffs are intended to incentivize companies to bring manufacturing back to the United States, where goods would no longer be subject to import duties. But small business owners say that transition is neither simple nor immediate. 
“We can’t just move factories overnight,” <a href="https://www.fastcompany.com/91337470/americas-manufacturing-revival-requires-a-marshall-plan-for-small-business-marshall-plan-small-business?utm_source=chatgpt.com">said</a> Daniel Rogge, CEO of Tormach, an industrial manufacturing equipment company. 
Others cited uncertainty as a primary obstacle. “The uncertainty is the most significant effect … People don’t want to make decisions with uncertainty,” <a href="https://www.dallasfed.org/cd/communities/2026/2602?utm_source=chatgpt.com">said</a> one wholesale trade business owner.
