President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the Constitution is &#8220;pretty clear&#8221; on presidential term limits, putting to rest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trumps-third-term-talk-puts-leftists-in-a-tizzy-again">theories</a> that have been pushed recently about Trump seeking to run again in 2028.
While en route to South Korea, Trump told reporters on Air Force One, “I have my highest poll numbers that I&#8217;ve ever had, and, you know, based on what I read, I guess I&#8217;m not allowed to run.&#8221;
&#8220;I would say that if you read [the Constitution], it&#8217;s pretty clear. I&#8217;m not allowed to run. It&#8217;s too bad,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;But we have a lot of great people,&#8221; referring to the potential Republican presidential candidates waiting to take the torch from him.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/article/can-trump-run-for-a-third-term-in-2028-mike-johnson-says-he-doesnt-see-the-path-192522300.html">pushed back</a> against the third-term theories on Tuesday, saying, “It&#8217;s been a great run, but I think the president knows, and he and I have talked about, the constrictions of the Constitution.”
The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, ratified in 1951, states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” The 22nd Amendment was ratified shortly after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to four consecutive terms before he died in office in 1945.

Theories about Trump running for a third term in 2028 swirled this week after former Trump adviser Steve Bannon said in an interview that &#8220;there is a plan&#8221; to create a path for Trump to run again. Trump would be 82 years old when the 2028 election takes place.
“Trump is going to be president in 2028, and people just ought to get accommodated with that,” Bannon <a href="https://x.com/TheEconomist/status/1981393309869215887">said</a> during an interview with The Economist last week. “We need him for at least one more term, and he’ll get that in 2028.”
Trump was asked about Bannon&#8217;s remarks earlier this week and told reporters that he &#8220;would love&#8221; to run in 2028. Trump&#8217;s and Bannon&#8217;s comments sparked rage and trepidation among political commentators on the Left. Some leftists have also argued that Trump&#8217;s tearing down the East Wing of the White House to build a ballroom is evidence that he plans on staying in office past January 20, 2029.
The president has hinted at a potential 2028 run multiple times in recent months, but has also stated that the idea &#8220;is not something I&#8217;m looking to do.&#8221; Trump&#8217;s official store also sells &#8220;Trump 2028&#8221; hats, keeping alive fears that he could run. But all of the third-term talk appears to just be talk, or possibly a ruse to troll Democrats. Political <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/27/us/politics/trump-third-term-politics.html">analysts</a> have also <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/27/politics/president-trump-third-term-2028">suggested</a> that Trump and his allies are keeping third-term theories alive to prevent Trump from becoming a lame-duck president, which could hinder his agenda as he gets closer to the end of his term.

There is some good news out of New York. It&#8217;s not a lot of good news out of New York, but it&#8217;s some good news.
There&#8217;s a brand new poll from Suffolk University showing that in New York, Andrew Cuomo — who is really the only hope of stopping Zohran Mamdani in the New York mayoral race — is catching up to Zohran Mamdani. The poll found that Mamdani no longer leads Cuomo by 20 points or 15 points, but the lead is down to ten, and Mamdani is stuck at 44%.
Typically, when somebody wins the New York mayoral race, they win well over a majority. Here you have Mamdani at 44%. You have Cuomo at 34%, and you have Curtis Sliwa at 11%. There will be a lot of talk if Mamdani ends up mayor about why Curtis Sliwa stayed in the race.
The reality is that Curtis Sliwa is not going to be the next mayor of New York. And if his vote share is larger than the margin of victory for Mamdani, that will leave some questions to be asked.

As David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, says, Sliwa “is one person in New York City whose voters could have an outsized impact on the outcome.”
This is the first poll since Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the race.
Most of his support has bled to Cuomo.

Mamdani is running a terrible final week of this campaign. He has decided that his closing message is going to be that New York City is famous for Islamophobia and if you don&#8217;t elect him, it&#8217;s because you don&#8217;t like Muslims, which is a wild statement in a city that suffered 9/11 (where apparently the only victim of 9/11, according to Zohran Mamdani, was his own female relative, who was wearing some sort of hijab on the subway and somebody gave her a mean look).
So now his final closing pitch is, “Why won&#8217;t you give me the mayoralty? If you don&#8217;t, it&#8217;s because you&#8217;re mean to Muslims.”
That is the mark of a person who truly feels entitled to everything. If you won&#8217;t give him the mayoralty of the financial center of planet Earth, it must not be because he&#8217;s a bad candidate, an out-and-out communist, a sympathizer with jihadists, but because you are mean to Muslims.

That quote from him in September 2023 shows him explaining that basically, his hatred for capitalism springs from his dislike of the “Zionists.” 
Mamdani stated:
<blockquote>The importance for me of international solidarity is that it takes me out of the American political landscape and reminds me just how tame some of the things that I’m actually calling for in the next board. And it reminds me of the necessity of grounding ourselves in the struggles as opposed to the fights around the struggles. For anyone to care about these issues … We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF. We’re in a country where those connections abound. Especially in New York City, you have so many opportunities to make clear the ways in which that struggle over there is tied to capitalist interests over here.</blockquote>
So you see, it&#8217;s really the Jews in Israel who are tied to the capitalist interests in New York City. And capitalism, of course, is bad. If you missed it, he said, “When the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF.”
This was not 15 years ago. This was two years ago. He was a full grown-ass man when he said this sort of garbage.
But if you point this out, you’re “Islamophobic.”
He only cares about “affordability.” How is he going to deliver affordability? No one knows. But if he just says “affordability” over and over and over, then affordability will magically appear in New York City. It&#8217;s like Beetlejuice. If you say affordability three times, then magically all of the rents go down.
He has no idea how he&#8217;s going to do anything. But that doesn&#8217;t matter. The reason people support Mamdani is because he&#8217;s “fetch” and he&#8217;s “brat.”
There are a lot of idiots in New York, and those idiots in New York are fully on board with the idea that if you don&#8217;t vote for Zohran Mamdani, it must be because you are some sort of racist, or because you hate gay people, or because you are one of those “capitalist tools.”
One can only hope that the non-idiots in New York will show up to vote.

For years, concerns about the lack of voting integrity in California have simmered beneath the surface — concerns rooted foremost in the absence of a requirement for valid identification at the polls. This has been a central issue for Republicans, who have fought for decades to implement common-sense verification measures, yet repeatedly found their efforts stymied by Democrats resistant to change. Now, with the approach of the November 4 election, these concerns are once again thrust into the spotlight thanks to the controversial California Proposition 50, a ballot measure that stands alone and, many argue, wastes both public time and money.
At the heart of this issue is the gerrymandering that has come to define California politics. Despite making up roughly 25% of the state’s registered voters, Republicans account for just 17% of California’s congressional delegation. Democrats, meanwhile, hold an overwhelming 83% of the state’s 52 available House seats. Such disproportions raise pressing questions about the fairness and responsiveness of the democratic process within the state.
To better understand the stakes of this upcoming vote, I spoke with Deborah Pauly, an attorney with the <a href="https://www.lexrex.org/">Lex Rex Institute</a> in Long Beach — a constitutional advocacy group engaged in public interest litigation to restore electoral integrity. According to Pauly, Proposition 50 is not just a technical adjustment or benign update to election law. She describes it as a retaliatory measure, devised in Sacramento, aimed at achieving mid-decade partisan redistricting that further consolidates Democratic power at the expense of meaningful representation and electoral competitiveness.
But as troubling as the redistricting implications may be, Pauly points to an even larger and more urgent issue: the fundamental security, or lack thereof, in California’s voting process, especially with respect to mail-in ballots. She urges all voters to be extremely cautious about using their mail-in ballots to register votes in this election.
Why is secure voting so critical? Because the legitimacy and stability of our democratic process depend on it. A core American principle is that every vote must be counted as cast and must remain private and protected. When voters are confident their ballots are secure, the civic fabric holds firm — even amidst the most heated or contentious races. Strip away that confidence, and the door swings open to polarization, conspiracy, and ultimately, the unraveling of public trust in democratic outcomes.
Unfortunately, there is mounting evidence that California is failing to uphold this bedrock democratic principle. As revealed by a volunteer working with <a href="https://patriotforceca.org/">Patriot Force California</a>, the mail-in ballots for this year’s solitary ballot initiative appear to be neither private nor secure. Pauly thus describes an “incurable flaw” in the design of the mail-in ballot envelope issued in Orange County — a flaw that may very well be echoed in counties across the state.
In a recent <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xlFYd5JCaE">Lex Rex Institute video</a>, and as seen in the image below, this risk is starkly demonstrated. With just one item on the ballot, folding the ballot in half and placing it in the purportedly “secure” envelope leaves the vote clearly visible if anyone shines a light through it. As someone who has already sent in such a ballot, I can attest to the disturbing accuracy of this claim. Thankfully, the Lex Rex Institute is preparing to file a challenge to the mail-in ballot envelopes in the federal courts in the Central District of California.

Note this is not just an abstract concern: the right to vote in privacy has deep historical roots, going back to <a href="https://campaignlegal.org/update/voters-have-right-secret-ballot">1888</a>. That is why voter privacy is built into the infrastructure of every voting center, with walls and barriers designed to ensure confidentiality. Yet these same standards are being ignored when it comes to absentee and mail-in voting. Even worse, Pauly notes flaws have been discovered in Sacramento — ballots that can be partially viewed due to literal holes in the envelope, putting the privacy of the vote at direct risk. The evidence is clear: compromised privacy in mail-in voting is not unique to Orange County.
So what does Proposition 50 represent, if not a dangerous step backward? The flaws and breaches revealed are not mere technical oversights — they are fundamental violations of a citizen’s right to a secret ballot and to confidence in the voting process. Allowing these problems to go unchecked would undermine not only the outcome of this ballot, but the entire system by which we govern ourselves.
This is a clarion call for all Californians who value their vote and believe in genuine democracy. If you care about the sanctity of your ballot, do not remain silent. Make your voice heard loudly — not only at the ballot box, but by contacting your Registrar of Voters, your local representatives, and the courts. Demand real security for all ballots, insist on proper ballot design, and require true transparency in our electoral process. Support principled organizations like the Lex Rex Institute and Patriot Force California as they lead the legal challenge to restore election integrity.
The right to privacy, and the assurance of a fair, accurate vote, is the foundation of self-government. These are not partisan issues, but essentials of the republic itself. Insist on immediate reforms and lend your voice and energy to the fight to ensure Proposition 50 and future elections live up to the standards America deserves. The integrity of our republic depends on our resolve to defend it. Stand up. Speak out. Demand better — for yourself, and for generations of Californians yet to come.

America’s founders appropriately recognized freedom of speech as the most fundamental right for a flourishing republic. But in today’s America, telling the truth carries a cost.
From social media bans to government censorship to silencing dissent inside our statehouses, the message is clear: if you dare to speak the truth, you will pay a price.
I witnessed this firsthand in Maine’s Democrat-controlled state house, where I was stripped of my right to speak for the people of Maine as their elected representative simply for highlighting biological differences between boys and girls in a state competition.
And the problem is getting worse, not better. Without a renewed commitment to our founding ideals, our society may become free in theory, but authoritarian in practice.
My experience in Maine began in February with a viral social media post. A biological male, who had placed fifth in the boys’ competition the year prior, won the girls’ state pole vault championship. Seeing his female competitor relegated to second place broke my heart.
I could not remain silent.
I posted two publicly available photos side by side. One showed the athlete finishing fifth in the boys’ competition one year; the other showed him taking gold in the girls’ competition the next. Official results had already been available for all to see, but this picture made the unfairness of the situation crystal clear.
Girls in Maine, and across the country, were being forced to compete on unequal terms – not only to justify a political cause, but to signal obedience to an ideology that punishes anyone who questions it.
And punished I was. 
The Maine House Speaker demanded I delete my post. When I refused, I was stripped of my right to speak or vote in the Legislature. Unless and until I issued a formal apology, I would remain barred from representing the nearly 9,000 constituents who elected me.
This wasn’t the first time legislative leadership in Maine used procedural tools to suppress dissent. In May of 2021, the Democratic legislative leadership issued a mask mandate, solely for the State House, after Governor Janet Mills had lifted the state mask mandate.
As a result, Mainers were denied their First Amendment right to assemble, to petition their government, and to speak freely, unless they traded a piece of their liberty. 
I knew it was wrong, and alongside five colleagues, I walked in without a mask.
In response, the Speaker stripped us of our committee assignments and barred us from voting. I agonized over what to do, but in the end, I put a face shield back on, telling myself it was my duty to vote for my constituents.
But the truth is I failed to stand strong in defense of the First Amendment. And that failure taught me that when you give in to fear and intimidation, it only encourages more of both.
This year, I chose not to make the same mistake.
Now, in February, I was confronted with a choice again: to give in or keep fighting. For Maine, for our girls, and for our First Amendment, I chose to fight. 
I filed suit against the Legislature after they barred me for exercising my right to speak truthfully about protecting girls’ sports. And the Supreme Court ruled in my favor and restored my vote!
It was, by any normal standard, the right outcome. But it should never have been necessary. An elected official was forced to file a lawsuit to fulfill her duty to the people of Maine, all because she took a stand for women and girls.
These are the things of totalitarian governments, not the United States.
We still talk about the First Amendment as though it protects us in practice as well as in theory. But in much of American life, the real barriers to speech are procedural, reputational and cultural. They come from norms that shift depending on the issue at hand and the politics of the speaker.
When Charlie Kirk was assassinated, I was in Washington, DC. I called home to tell my older children, and my teenager’s first question stopped me in my tracks: “Mom, are you going to stop speaking up?” Without hesitation, I answered: “No. Absolutely not.”
If we stay silent now, we surrender the foundation of liberty. If we bow to intimidation, we hand our children a future where truth is unwelcome and freedom is conditional.
This is not someone else’s fight. It is ours. Parents, teachers, students, pastors, lawmakers, citizens – every one of us has a role to play in protecting the space to speak truthfully, even when it costs us.
This moment is where we stand to lose, or gain, the most. The only way we lose is if we make the choice to silence ourselves.
We cannot be silent. We must speak. We must stand. There is too much at stake to do otherwise.

Bernie Sanders let the cat out of the bag yesterday.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/10/23/bernie-sanders-aoc-2028-presidential-election">Axios</a>, he said what I think we&#8217;ve all been thinking: that AOC is almost certainly going to run for president in 2028 — with the backing of Bernie Sanders.
<blockquote>“She is an incredibly intelligent person and in the best sense of the word, a very, very good politician,” he declared. “I&#8217;ve been out on the streets where the people come up and how she responds to people is so incredibly genuine and open, you know, it&#8217;s just something. That&#8217;s a gift that she has. It&#8217;s a quality that she has. She&#8217;s a great speaker out there. She comes from the working class. She was a kid who was cleaning houses with her mother. She knows what it&#8217;s like not to have any money. And she&#8217;s going out fighting for working families all over this country. And I think as a young person who six years ago was a waitress, becoming politically prominent has been incredibly inspiring.”</blockquote>
She&#8217;s not inspiring.
To the wild Left, however, she is inspiring.
Sure, she is a dunderhead who says unintelligent things every five seconds.
But Bernie Sanders is also a dunderhead, and he&#8217;s been able to get away with it for 2,000 decades at this point. I believe he was a contemporaneous follower of Methuselah.
Sanders has taken over the Democratic Party wholesale at this point.
They are moving further and further to the Left. And one of his chosen acolytes is Graham Platner, the Maine Democrat running for the Senate who leads in the polls by leaps and bounds.

On July 4, a group of militants allegedly swarmed law enforcement at an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas and “opened fire at the unarmed DHS correctional officers.” One of them, Benjamin Hanil Song, is charged with shooting a police officer in the neck. Song was a member of the Socialist Rifle Association’s Dallas-Fort Worth chapter, a fellow group member told <a href="https://www.keranews.org/news/2025-07-22/shooting-at-alvarado-ice-facility-other-attacks-the-new-normal">KERA</a>.
Last week, the Department of Justice charged two suspects in that attack, Cameron Arnold and Zachary Evetts, with providing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-hits-antifa-with-very-first-terrorism-charges-in-anti-ice-attack">material support to terrorists</a>, calling their crew an “Antifa Cell.” It was the first use of the terrorism statute against domestic extremists since Trump ordered a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-ups-the-ante-orders-cabinet-to-label-antifa-a-foreign-terror-organization">crackdown</a> on far-left political violence. Arnold, like the founders of the Socialist Rifle Association, is transgender and goes by the name Autumn Hill.
Membership in the Socialist Rifle Association isn’t required for users to post on the Reddit forum. But a New England publication, the <a href="https://robinsonreport.substack.com/p/ex-marine-graham-platner-taught-military">Robinson Report</a>, revealed that Platner explicitly described his membership in the group.
“Check out the Maine SRA chapter, we’re quite active,” he wrote in April 2020. In August 2020, he said “my local SRA chapter” does “lots of range days, firearms education classes, and developing mutual aid networks in our community.”</blockquote>
Images of the main chapter include a man training in a pink tutu shooting a gun, and one who has facial hair matching Platner’s.
This is a person, a Nazi-tattooed Antifa-training pseudo-man-of-the-people oyster farmer, who went to a $75,000-a-year prep school when he was younger.
And he’s Sanders’ chosen guy in the Senate race in Maine. If the Democrats wish to embrace this sort of radicalism, I do not think the American people will move alongside them.

I know there are a lot of Republicans who are rooting for the socialists to take over the Democratic Party.
I am not.
I&#8217;ve been saying this since 2020, when Bernie Sanders was running against Joe Biden. I said I preferred Joe Biden to be the nominee rather than Bernie Sanders, even if Bernie was more likely to lose to Donald Trump.
Why? Because the risk factor in having a socialist leader was higher than the risk factor in having a “dead” leader like Joe Biden.
Even if Joe Biden had slightly higher odds to win the presidency than Bernie Sanders, if I had to calculate the damage that a Bernie Sanders presidency would do versus a Joe Biden presidency, it would be astronomically higher under Bernie Sanders than Joe Biden, no matter how bad Joe Biden was.
I feel the same way about the Democratic Party falling wholesale to the wild-Left democratic socialists. If they do that, it’s true there&#8217;s a lower chance that they will win power anytime soon.
But to pretend that chance doesn&#8217;t exist is to whistle past the graveyard.
Let&#8217;s say, for example, that the Democratic Party has a 40% shot of winning the White House in 2028 right now with some sort of pseudo-moderate, like a Gavin Newsom or a Wes Moore. And let&#8217;s say they have a 30% shot of winning the White House with a clear, insane socialist like AOC at the top of the ticket.
The damage that would be done by Wes Moore or Gavin Newsom would be a seven out of ten, and the damage done by an AOC would be a ten out of ten.
I would rather take the low-risk scenario, even if there&#8217;s a greater risk that the person might become president, than take the absolutely disastrous apocalyptic scenario of having a Democratic party controlled by the nutjobs.
This is why the rise of the Zohran Mamdani Left is truly, truly troubling.

U.S. House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is expected to endorse New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Friday, and become yet another Democratic leader to get behind the socialist&#8217;s campaign, according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/24/after-a-lengthy-wait-jeffries-to-endorse-mamdani-00621799">POLITICO</a>.
Two people &#8220;with knowledge of the situation&#8221; told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/24/after-a-lengthy-wait-jeffries-to-endorse-mamdani-00621799?experience_id=EXYF89KVT5UQ&amp;template_id=OTJIR2CRKUD6&amp;variant_id=OTV7T8G93R30L&amp;is_login_link=true">POLITICO</a> that Jeffries is ready to publicly back Mamdani after the House minority leader faced pressure from leftists for months. The endorsement is expected to come just one day before early voting begins in the NYC mayoral race, as Mamdani maintains a significant polling advantage over former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, who&#8217;s running as an independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
Jeffries told reporters in Washington, D.C., on Friday to &#8220;stay tuned.&#8221;
&#8220;I have not refused to endorse. I have refused to articulate my position, and I will momentarily, at some point, in advance of early voting,&#8221; he added.
Jeffries has already <a href="https://x.com/hakeemjeffries/status/1937889911165645000?s=46&amp;t=Ec2ilbF1_cOpGpISmcRGOw">praised</a> Mamdani for focusing on economic issues. Assuming Jeffries endorses Mamdani on Friday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will become the only key New York Democratic leader who has not yet endorsed the socialist candidate.
Mamdani, who has called for rent freezing, price controls, and city-owned grocery stores, leads Cuomo by double digits, according to the most recent <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/polls/nyc-mayoral-election-polls-2025.html">polls</a>. Some Republicans have called on GOP candidate Curtis Sliwa to drop out of the race to potentially give Cuomo an extra boost. Sliwa, who stands a 16% in the RealClearPolitics average of polling, said that he will stay in the race, arguing that the effort to push him out is promoted by billionaires, such as hedge fund CEO Bill Ackman.
&#8220;The billionaires can conspire to pick their candidate,&#8221; Sliwa <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/curtis-sliwa-vows-zohran-mamdanis-worst-nightmare-democratic-socialist-wins-nyc-mayoral-race">said</a> earlier this week. &#8220;I trust the people. They will make the decision. I will not drop out.&#8221;
President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that even if Sliwa were to drop out, Cuomo would &#8220;have a little bit of a chance, but not much.&#8221; Trump called Mamdani a &#8220;communist,&#8221; but he added that he would be willing to talk to Mamdani if he were to become mayor.
The president previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-warns-mamdani-no-federal-cash-for-a-communist-mayor">threatened</a> to cut federal funding for New York City if Mamdani is elected.
“He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City,” Trump wrote on Truth Social last month. “Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfill all of his FAKE Communist promises. Democratic lawmakers will soon launch a &#8220;master ICE tracker&#8221; as federal immigration agents face a 1,000% increase in assaults.
On Tuesday, California Rep. Robert Garcia announced the website&#8217;s creation by members of his party on the House Oversight Committee to expose ICE&#8217;s whereabouts across the country.
&#8220;Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the oversight committee will be launching on their website a master ICE tracker where we&#8217;re going to be essentially tracking every single instance that we can verify that the community will send us information on, and it will be all available in one central place,&#8221; Garcia said during a press conference.
Attorney General Pam Bondi hit back at the &#8220;shutdown Democrats&#8221; for &#8220;trying to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs&#8221; in a Tuesday X post.
&#8220;The Justice Department has ZERO tolerance for violence against law enforcement — we will prosecute any person who physically assaults our agents,&#8221; Bondi said.

The day of the website&#8217;s announcement, federal agents in Los Angeles were forced to fire upon an illegal immigrant TikToker who had previously evaded arrest. A US Marshal was also shot in the hand by a ricochet bullet.
The illegal immigrant suspect, Carlitos Ricardo Parías, 44, allegedly rammed a federal vehicle before officers shot him. Parías is well-known for documenting ICE operations across LA to his 132,000 TikTok followers
The U.S. Attorney has since hit Parías with the federal charge of assaulting an officer, which could put him behind bars for up to eight years.

As speculation mounts that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will soon announce her retirement, one California lawmaker is wasting no time entering the succession race.
California State Senator Scott Wiener announced his candidacy Wednesday, hours after <a href="https://www.politico.com/playbook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Politico</a> reported that Pelosi may announce her retirement soon after California votes on a controversial redistricting proposal. Wiener, who’s considered one of the most outspoken leftist members of the California State Legislature, did not name Pelosi in his campaign launch video.
“My family escaped fascism in Europe. I never thought the United States would slip into fascism like we’re seeing today,” Wiener said. “San Francisco has always been on the right side of history.”
“Join me now, before everything we believe in is lost for good,” he continued.
Wiener’s bid comes as Democrats continue to debate the concept of letting younger candidates pave the way for the party. Numerous reports surfaced earlier this year about whether Pelosi would run again. Pelosi, who is 85 years old, has been in Congress since 1987. Wiener is 55.
Some of the major campaign points on Wiener&#8217;s campaign website include LGBT issues and countering the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
“He authored the nation’s first LGBTQ refuge law, and expanded privacy protections to prevent harassment and targeting against transgender and nonbinary people. As Senate Budget Chair, he secured $15 million in state funds to cover gender affirming healthcare that Trump is attempting to cut from Medicaid,” his <a href="https://www.scottwiener.com/priorities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> states, as Wiener’s campaign logo also features a pride flag.
“When masked agents began disappearing people off the street in San Francisco, he passed first of its kind legislation to unmask them. In Congress, he will lead the charge to protect our immigrant neighbors and get ICE OUT OF CALIFORNIA!!!,” Wiener’s site says about immigration.

The anti-masking ICE bill was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in September and will take effect in January. However, the legislation has raised questions about how it could be legally enforced, given that it pertains to federal officers.
“Good news for Americans and public safety: [ICE] and [DHS] law enforcement are part of the federal government,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in September after the bill was signed. “We don’t need to abide by this garbage.”
It’s unclear whether Wiener&#8217;s announcement will set off a major primary battle should Pelosi opt to retire. San Francisco has made national headlines in recent days as President Donald Trump considers deploying the National Guard to the city, which state leaders have said will be met with lawsuits. Earlier this week, DHS Assistant Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the city will be a focus of the administration’s ICE efforts.
“We continue to have targeted operations in many, many cities, but also very focused on those where challenges are still remaining, such as Portland, Chicago, we’re in Memphis as well, we’re going to San Francisco at the direction of the president as well,” Noem said, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-target-san-francisco-with-immigration-raids" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a> reported.

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner was reportedly aware of the Nazi-affiliation of his skull and crossbones chest tattoo, despite recent claims that he had never faced negative accusations regarding it until he ran for office, according to Jewish Insider.
“He said, ‘Oh, this is my Totenkopf,’” an acquaintance recalls Platner telling him at Tune Inn, a Capitol Hill Bar where Platner worked, in 2012.
“He said it in a cutesy little way,” the individual said. Platner said at the time that he was aware of what the symbol meant when he got the tattoo, though he has denied knowing the meaning at other times, <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2025/10/graham-platner-ss-tattoo-maine-senate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jewish Insider</a> reported. Platner has since gotten a new tattoo to cover the symbol, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

The report came after Platner attempted to explain the tattoo on “Pod Save America” on Monday.
“I am not a secret Nazi,” Platner said on the podcast. “Actually, if you read through my Reddit comments I think you can pretty much figure out where I stand on Nazism and antisemitism and racism in general. I would say, lifelong opponent.”
Platner, who has been endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), further added that he was “very inebriated” on leave in Croatia while on a deployment for the Marines in 2007, and “we chose a terrifying-looking skull and crossbones off the wall” while at the tattoo shop.
“We got those and then we all moved on with our lives,” he said.

“At no point in this entire experience of my life not once did anybody say ‘Hey, you’re a Nazi.’ It never came up, until we got wind that in the opposition research somebody was shopping the idea that I was secret Nazi with a hidden Nazi tattoo. And I can honestly say that if I was trying to hide it, I have not been doing a very good job for the past 18 years,” Platner continued.
Platner has been under fire since a number of his Reddit posts were revealed, including one where he referred to cops as “bastards” and described himself as a “communist.”
Axios reported that in a 2020 Reddit post Platner said he had the term “antifa super soldier” on “armor” he owned.
His former political director, Genevieve McDonald, who quit just days ago, called him out in a Facebook post in light of the tattoo scandal.
“Graham has an antisemitic tattoo on his chest. He’s not an idiot, he’s a military history buff. Maybe he didn’t know it when he got it, but he got it years ago and he should have had it covered up because he knows damn well what it means,” McDonald wrote, The Maine Wire reported.
Platner is currently facing Democrat Governor Janet Mills in a primary, the winner of which will face incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican, in a closely watched 2026 race.

Democrats have some major problems.
We are about one year away from the midterm elections. It is worthwhile to note that in the RealClearPolitics polling average, Democrats right now are leading by roughly 1.6 points in the generic congressional vote, within the margin of error.
Every single poll over the course of the last month has the margin between Democrats up three points and Republicans up one point.
There are no polls showing Democrats with a significant advantage on the 2026 generic congressional ballot.
Just so you understand how these things stack up, in 2018, when Democrats had a great election, Democrats netted 40 seats in the House and took the House by a significant majority. The RealClearPolitics polling average had Democrats on Election Day in the generic congressional average up by 8.4 points.
Today, it&#8217;s more like 2022, when Republicans won nine seats, which was a very narrow victory. The RealClearPolitics polling average had Republicans up 2.8 points, and there are significantly fewer competitive battleground districts this time around, thanks to both redistricting and population movement.
According to Cook Political, there are effectively eight seats that are toss-up seats held by Republicans, but could theoretically move Democrat. There are ten Democrat toss-up seats, including seats in California, Maine, New York, Ohio and Texas.
This means it could be an unbelievably close election — at best — for Democrats. And there is the significant possibility that if redistricting occurs in Texas, the Republicans will retain the House.

Democrat chances right now are plummeting. Part of that is because they have no narrative whatsoever. They have major problems.
They trotted out their “No Kings” protest over the weekend. They got roughly seven million people to show up. But the salient point about gigantic mass protests like this is if they have no crossover appeal, it makes no difference at all.
If you look at the popular vote in 2024, you’ll notice that Kamala Harris won 75 million votes. Getting seven million Kamala Harris voters out into the streets to be angry at President Trump doesn&#8217;t mean anything. It&#8217;s less than 1/10 of the number of people who actually voted for Kamala Harris.
How many registered independents or Republicans were at the “No Kings” protest? The answer is: close to zero.
Thus, it&#8217;s just all performative outrage for the Democrats. They are hoping in the end that they have higher voter enthusiasm in 2026 than Republicans do. Evidence of that exists, but it is starting to wane.
There is some evidence that Democrats are animated to vote. In excess of 70% of Democrats are saying they are animated to vote in 2026; for Republicans the numbers are in the mid-50s, but those numbers are likely to close before the election.
The more performative Democrats look, the more they seem tired and gray and old and with nothing in the tank.
For example, there’s Nancy Pelosi, who&#8217;s now 176 years-old and remembers the Battle of Antietam in the Civil War. Well, she made a little video for social media where she broke a crown in order to show there were no kings. This is a lady who has been in Congress longer than most kings reign on their thrones and is worth over $100 million. And she is going to be talking about the oligarchs and the kings, dentures a-clacking?
MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, from the fan network for the “No Kings” rallies, said the thing about this opposition is that it&#8217;s “led by the people.” 
No, it&#8217;s not. It&#8217;s an opposition led by a bunch of grassroots astroturf organizations like labor unions and the Communist Party USA.
If you can find me ten people — we&#8217;re now doing the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah here — if you can find me ten people in the crowds who were registered Republicans and voted for Donald Trump in the last election cycle, I will be very, very surprised.
Rep. Jamie Raskin also tried to make all of this into some sort of gigantic popular uprising, saying, “This is right now the largest set of demonstrations that&#8217;s ever occurred in American history. I don&#8217;t know that there&#8217;s ever been seven million people who have assembled in unity against an administration that has been so determined to violate the civil rights and civil liberties of the people, usurp the powers of Congress, and trampled the Constitution as well as shut down the U.S. government.” 
The idea that this is a gigantic popular uprising is betrayed by the polls. There is no evidence that President Trump is in any serious trouble here. He seems to be absolutely Teflon right now.
Trump knows this, and he&#8217;s enjoying it. President Trump put out a viral video via Truth Social of him flying his poop jet over the rallies.
Meanwhile, Democrats legitimately can&#8217;t take a joke. Bernie Sanders — the only male “The View” will invite on their show — was outraged over President Trump&#8217;s fake AI poop bomb. The performative outrage is really something to watch.
Democrats are trying to create havoc with the government shutdown, and people are not panicked. They&#8217;re not feeling the havoc. It isn’t having much of an impact, as Harry Enten on CNN admitted, saying, “The bottom line is this: The first shutdown during Trump&#8217;s first term, 2018/2019, was hurting Donald Trump. This one is not hurting him at all.”
The reason it’s not hurting Trump is because Americans recognize that eventually the shutdown will come to an end, people will get their back pay, and that will be it.
The polls show that Democrats are not gaining any momentum from the shutdown. That’s because until five minutes ago, Democrats always opposed government shutdowns. They wanted the government to continue functioning and running no matter what.
So that’s a losing issue for them, too.
President Trump is having a great time.
