Regular CNN analyst Bakari Sellers veered into Nazi territory when he referred to President Donald Trump as a &#8220;cancer&#8221; and suggested that the president&#8217;s voters were vermin or even demons who needed to be completely eradicated from the United States.
Sellers, during a recent panel discussion hosted by ousted CNN anchor Don Lemon, claimed that the nation was well on its way to requiring an &#8220;exorcism&#8221; or even a &#8220;fumigation&#8221; to remove the MAGA movement in its entirety.

&#8220;You know, Joe Biden was somewhat of a bridge, he was supposed to be a bridge,&#8221; Sellers began, suggesting that former President Joe Biden&#8217;s election had been a means to an end — the tolerable middle ground that would allow the country to break away from Trump&#8217;s first administration and pave the way toward a real Democratic movement.
&#8220;A palate cleanser, or somebody who morally and ethically was antithetical to who Donald Trump was,&#8221; Sellers continued. &#8220;You know, Uncle Joe was the nice guy, an older white guy comes in and you want to eat ice cream with him, right?&#8221;
But then Sellers went on to say that President Trump&#8217;s decisive victory in 2024 had proved that using Biden as a &#8220;palate cleanser&#8221; had not been enough to put an end to the Trump&#8217;s support and clear the way for Democrats moving forward. He made no move to recognize that Biden may have failed to move the needle because he was not an effective leader, nor did he raise the possibility that Trump had coasted to reelection in 2024 because former Vice President Kamala Harris had not been a strong candidate.
Instead, Sellers responded to that assessment by arguing in favor of taking more drastic measures to &#8220;cleanse&#8221; the nation&#8217;s palate of its taste for Trump, comparing the president&#8217;s supporters to vermin that required &#8220;fumigation&#8221; and even demons in desperate need of an &#8220;exorcism.&#8221;
&#8220;I think what that episode in our country&#8217;s history showed us is that we really need some fumigation, right? We need a — a — exorcism, for lack of a better term,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We need a more aggressive approach to go in and surgically remove the cancer that is the Donald Trump and MAGA movement.&#8221;

During a panel discussion that aired Tuesday during &#8220;CNN NewsNight&#8221; with host Abby Phillip, leftist commentator Bakari Sellers joined former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson and Republican pundit Scott Jennings in mocking the protests that culminated in Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer chanting, &#8220;We will win!&#8221; and &#8220;We won&#8217;t rest!&#8221;

Phillip began with a series of video clips of the protests, suggesting that the Democrats involved viewed Musk — and perhaps Trump as well — as &#8220;a piñata in search of a stick.&#8221; The clips highlighted Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), and Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) as they screamed about Musk&#8217;s involvement.
&#8220;We are gonna be in your face, we are gonna be on your ass,&#8221; Crockett warned.
&#8220;We have days to stop the destruction of our democracy!&#8221; Murphy shouted.
As the clip wrapped, even Phillip was attempting to suppress her laughter, and Jennings was doubled over.
&#8220;I&#8217;m so sorry, can we play it again?&#8221; he asked, but Phillip went to Carlson for the first reaction.
&#8220;The Democrats need a real leader, ok? They need a real leader, which currently does not exist in the Democratic Party,&#8221; Carlson said. &#8220;And they have been completely flat-footed with the entire Trump presidency for the last two weeks and Elon Musk. I said on CNN months ago that Elon Musk would be the most influential advisor to President Trump, and that is proving to be true whether you like it or not. But Democrats should have had a plan for this. They knew it was coming.&#8221;
Sellers, despite being a Democrat himself, made it clear that he was unimpressed by the protest efforts: &#8220;I’m fired up and ready to go, can’t you see it in my face?&#8221;
Sellers suggested that the real problem with the protests was that the wrong people were in the spotlight: &#8220;I don’t want to hear Chuck Schumer saying, &#8216;We won’t lose&#8217; and &#8216;We won’t rest.&#8217; I’d rather have a small business owner up there talking about the impact on them. I’d rather have somebody who was displaced, who was a black woman, who’s worked hard to have her business out there chanting and talking about —&#8221;
&#8220;And they need to pick their targets because there is a risk here that they end up going to bat over things that Americans are like, &#8216;What does this have to do with me?'&#8221; Phillip interrupted, adding her own two cents to the mix.
Jennings, clearly still enjoying the content, added, &#8220;I think the highlight reel that you just played, spliced with the highlight reel of all the people trying to run the Democratic National Committee at their organizational meeting, ought to be put together. And we ought to take money from the Republican National Committee and play it on a loop.&#8221;
&#8220;Ladies and gentlemen: The American Left is so far off the rails, they’re going to have to get Google Maps to find their way back. They’re way gone right now, and it’s glorious!&#8221; he crowed.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/cnn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> analyst Bakari Sellers admitted he “f***ed up” when he blamed President Donald Trump for the plane crash outside Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport involving an Army helicopter and American Airlines plane before he deleted the post on Wednesday night.
Sellers initially took to <a href="https://x.com/ClayTravis/status/1884987308144783671">X</a> after the crash and posted a screenshot of a partial headline from a statement from the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Democrats.
His post read, “8 days ago,&#8221; and he included only part of the statement, which read, “Trump’s Dangerous Freeze of Air Traffic Control Hiring.”
The entire head read, “Ranking Members Larsen, Cohen Statements on Trump’s Dangerous Freeze of Air Traffic Control Hiring,” the <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/i-f-d-up-cnn-analyst-blames-trump-for-deadly-american-airlines-crash-then-apologizes/">Free Beacon</a> noted.

A short time later, Sellers deleted the post and explained why.
&#8220;I deleted the post because timing matters,” the <a href="https://x.com/Bakari_Sellers/status/1884809986158547090">CNN analyst wrote</a>. “Politics at this point does not. I f***ed up, I own that.”
“I am very prayerful but I’m also very frustrated, upset, and disturbed with where we are as a country,” he added. “I recognize, and I will do better.”
“The only thing that matters is rescuing the survivors, and ensuring this never happens again,” Sellers continued.
The reaction was swift on social media, with one person after another blasting the CNN analyst for the &#8220;despicable” and “horrid” original post he had made.
&#8220;You deleted the post because dozens of Americans are currently being fished out of the Potomac, and rather than have reverence for the victims, you chose to dishonestly (and despicably) blame @realDonaldTrump,” one person <a href="https://x.com/Chet_Cannon/status/1884819569640120551">wrote</a>.

Bakari Sellers (D-SC) made an appearance on Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View,&#8221; where he claimed that Daily Wire Editor Emeritus <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ben-shapiro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Shapiro</a> and OutKick founder Clay Travis lacked the &#8220;intellect&#8221; to have honest discussions — and now Shapiro would like a word.
Joy Behar began the conversation, noting that ousted Fox News Tucker Carlson had accused Sellers of using his platform as a CNN political analyst to &#8220;monetize racism.&#8221; Sellers objected, claiming that Carlson was the one monetizing racism when he talked about the Great Replacement Theory.
&#8220;It&#8217;s rooted in white supremacy, and it&#8217;s fear. It&#8217;s grievance,&#8221; Sellers said, claiming that all it did was foment hate.
He went on to call out both Travis and Shapiro by name as host Whoopi Goldberg appeared to shake her head and laugh. &#8220;And the problem is that they have ads that play before and ads that play after, and you have these individuals — the Clay Travises of the world, the Ben Shapiros of the world, who don&#8217;t necessarily have the intellect to have honest discussions, but yet they are able to become millionaires because they&#8217;re actually just circulizing and promulgating this fear.&#8221;
Shapiro responded a short time later, posting on X, &#8220;Hey, @theview, would love to come on to discuss. It&#8217;ll be tough, but I&#8217;m ready to take on this extraordinary intellectual challenge.&#8221;

Wednesday marked the latest episode in the ongoing saga, as former cohost Meghan McCain had tried (but failed) several times to convince producers to invite Shapiro to join the show as a guest. Despite their steadfast refusal to speak to him directly, the cohosts appear only too happy to call him out from the safety of their table.
Travis also responded to Sellers&#8217; comments, saying that he too would be happy to step up to the table on the ABC midday talk show.

While anchors <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/don-lemon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Don Lemon</a> and <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/kaitlan-collins/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kaitlan Collins</a> seemed to agree with part of Sellers&#8217; assessment — namely that Biden might decide against taking on the rigors of another campaign — they were less convinced that the Democratic Party would push other serious contenders to the forefront if he was still running.

Noting that President Biden has not wavered from his initial claim — that he intends &#8220;to run&#8221; for re-election in 2024 — analyst Paul Begala added, &#8220;Why wouldn’t he? You have to ask somebody else, I think he&#8217;s doing a great job. I&#8217;m a – kind of a Biden guy, I like what he&#8217;s doing.&#8221;
Begala went on to say that there had been &#8220;a lot of emerging new stars&#8221; in the Democratic Party, however, suggesting that if Biden were to bow out, the party had enough depth to work around that.
&#8220;Why wouldn’t he is because of the toil of the campaign,&#8221; Sellers began, noting that COVID had actually taken away some of the typical campaign pressures because it allowed Biden to avoid a lot of the ground-game staples that previous and future campaigns would likely require. &#8220;I mean, the campaign is a monster in itself.&#8221;
&#8220;I’m not saying that he can’t do it,&#8221; Seller continued. &#8220;The question he has to answer is, does he want to go through that, and go through, you know, primary debates? Because he’s going to be primaried. That’s a fact. That, we’re new age Democrats. Now, I’m going to support him in that primary, but he’s going be …&#8221;
&#8220;You think he’s going to get primaried?&#8221; Collins asked.
&#8220;Of course!&#8221; Sellers was adamant.
&#8220;By a serious candidate?&#8221; Begala appeared unconvinced.
&#8220;Did Hillary Clinton get primaried?&#8221; Sellers offered.
&#8220;Hillary wasn’t an incumbent …&#8221; Begala protested.
&#8220;She wasn’t an incumbent president,&#8221; Collins agreed.
&#8220;It doesn’t even matter if the candidate is serious or not. There’s going to be somebody …&#8221; Sellers tried again.
Begala continued to push back, saying that former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton hadn&#8217;t been primaried when they were incumbent presidents.
&#8220;There’s going to be somebody, there’s going to be somebody,&#8221; Sellers insisted. &#8220;This is, this is not Bill Clinton or Barack Obama’s Democratic Party anymore. I wish it was. There are a lot of, there are a lot of us who are going to support Joe Biden.&#8221;
&#8220;But who would primary him?&#8221; Collins pressed.
&#8220;I feel firm in the belief that he’ll get primaried from the Left,&#8221; Sellers said, arguing that Biden was likely to face a challenge from the far Left, from someone who felt that his policies had not gone far enough.
Sellers is not the only one exploring the possibility that the Democrats could put up a candidate who is not Joe Biden in 2024 — three weeks ahead of Tuesday&#8217;s midterms, The Washington Post put out a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/10/15/top-ten-democrats-2024-ranked/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">top-ten ranked list</a> of potential Democratic candidates — and while Biden was ranked first, the list also included Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

While &#8220;white supremacy&#8221; did not start with Donald Trump, it has been &#8220;magnified&#8221; by him, said CNN&#8217;s Bakari Sellers on Sunday as a <a href="http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1708/20/sotu.01.html">State of the Union</a> panelist.
White people have a unique responsibility to end &#8220;white supremacy,&#8221; said Sellers. 
&#8220;White supremacy is not new. It didn&#8217;t start with Donald Trump. It has been magnified and lifted up and put on another playing field,&#8221; said Sellers.
&#8220;But I don&#8217;t think anything has necessarily changed. It won&#8217;t change until individuals who don&#8217;t look like Nina and I decide that enough is enough,&#8221; he said, referencing his fellow African-American panelist.
&#8220;I hope that individuals, especially white evangelicals, in the United States of America decide to stand up and say enough is enough, and Donald Trump is perverting in giving these individuals a platform and he should not. That&#8217;s all we&#8217;re asking for,&#8221; Sellers said. 
Tapper and the other panelists offered no pushback to any of Sellers&#8217; assertions.

&#8220;Thirteen all-white males in the back room&#8221; are drafting federal health care and insurance policy, CNN&#8217;s Bakari Sellers said on Sunday&#8217;s <a href="http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1706/18/sotu.01.html">State of the Union</a>, lamenting the racial and sex composition of certain Republican legislators.

&#8220;The Republican party right now is trying to take away health insurance from 23 million people and they are literally drafting up a piece of legislation that affects one-sixth of our economy under the cover of darkness, which is 13 all white males in the back room,&#8221; said Sellers, describing Republican proposals as a &#8220;travesty of justice.&#8221;

Moments earlier, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) expressed similar resentment, implicitly calling for political quotas based on sex: &#8220;Right now, you&#8217;ve got thirteen men writing a bill that&#8217;s gonna affect more than 50% of the population is women.&#8221;

State of the Union host, Jake Tapper, was silent on his panelists&#8217; lamentations regarding racial and sex quotas for politicians. Neither Rick Santorum nor Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) &#8212; also panelists for the discussion &#8212; responded to either Sellers&#8217; or Dingell&#8217;s racial or gender-based agitation.

Left-wing CNN pundit Ana Navarro &#8211; who describes herself as a Republican &#8211; called on the GOP to oppose President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/01/25/executive-order-border-security-and-immigration-enforcement-improvements">executive order</a> regarding restrictions on the admission of foreigners from seven Muslim-majority states.
Teed up by left-wing CNN Democrat Jake Tapper to demand Republican opposition to Trump’s executive order, Navarro described Republicans as “emotionally [exhausted]&#8221; while pushing left-wing and partisan Democrat talking points:
<blockquote>“You know, I think people are exhausted. I think a lot of Republicans are exhausted. The flurry of activity this week has been really a dizzying pace. It’s so hard to keep up. And so many of them have been speaking out consistently this week: against the charge that there were three million illegal voters, against the tariffs against Mexico, against the idea of the wall, against not investigating Russia for hacking. So I think it’s such a, you know, steady rain of things that they have to confront Trump on that it’s been kind of an emotionally exhausting week.”</blockquote>
Navarro then claimed Republican politicians were privately speaking with her in opposition to Trump’s “extreme vetting&#8221; as a violation of &#8220;American values&#8221;:
<blockquote>“I have friends telling me, &#8216;I disagree with this. It is an un-American executive order. But I can’t survive politically if I am confronting the man every day.&#8217; But this is one, where, as exhausted as they may be, Republicans need to appeal to their sense of consciousness, to their principles, to what is right and wrong, to American values, and they need to speak up.”</blockquote>
Navarro ended her soliloquy with an emotional appeal to “family unity,&#8221; which included the name-dropping of white nationalist, David Duke:
<blockquote>“The Republican Party I grew up in is a Republican Party of family unity. What we saw yesterday were families being torn apart. What we saw yesterday was violations of the Constitution. We don’t treat different people different ways. We don’t impose a religious test. And the folks may want to tell us this is not a Muslim ban. I’ll tell you who thinks it’s a Muslim ban. Muslims think it’s a Muslim ban. Those who want a Muslim ban like little boy Flynn and David Duke, the former KKK leader, are celebrating it as a Muslim ban. And those of us who don’t want a Muslim ban see it as such.”</blockquote>
Bakari Sellers &#8211; who departs from most of his CNN colleagues by being open about his left-wing and partisan Democrat politics &#8211; joined Navarro’s lamentations, saying he now &#8220;[feels] like a Muslim&#8221;:
<blockquote>“The fact is, there are a lot of people in this country who feel persecuted by [Trump’s executive order]. Even more importantly, it’s a religious test in there, because it says if you are a religious minority in a Muslim-majority, that you somehow get precedence. I mean today, I mean, I feel like I’m a Muslim. Today, I feel like I’m a refugee, because as Dr. King said, ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ And I think that that is what you’re seeing around the country, that is why people are so upset.&#8221;</blockquote>
At no point did any of the panelists acknowledge the overlap between Islamic terrorism and Muslims. At no point in the discussion was &#8220;Islamic terrorism&#8221; mentioned by any of the panelists.
