<p>In a comment that may be historically regarded as the most ridiculous ever uttered by a White House official, (although given the history of the Obama Administration’s lying, that is probably a hyperbolic statement) White House chief of staff Denis McDonough stated Wednesday that Barack Obama is the “<a href="http://freebeacon.com/issues/wh-chief-staff-obama-catholic-president-history/">most Catholic</a>” of American presidents.</p>
<p>Say whaaaaaaaaat?</p>
<p><a href="http://freebeacon.com/issues/wh-chief-staff-obama-catholic-president-history/">Speaking </a>with Obama’s former senior adviser David Axelrod on his podcast <em>The Axe Files</em>, McDonough stated:</p>
<blockquote><p>Look, I say to him, Axe, and I think I’ve said this to him in your presence, and I’ve said this publicly before, I think this is our most Catholic of presidents. And I mean that by capital “C” Catholic in what I see and what he does everyday. It’s not to say that he does everything entirely consistent with Catholic teaching. That’s not the idea, but I think, in fact, his view of the person and his view of our role and the view of us as adding to the common good, I think is an undeniably Catholic set of premises, and that’s why I say that to him a lot.</p></blockquote>
<p>Where do you start in refuting such an insulting remark to genuine Catholics?</p>
<p>Should we start with Obama’s love of abortion, which he demonstrated with Obamacare’s attempt to <a href="https://politicalvelcraft.org/2015/04/18/us-supreme-court-decides-with-the-catholic-church-and-against-obamacare-mandates/">force religious organizations</a> to provide insurance that covers birth control to their employees. Not only is abortion anathema to Cathjolic teaching, but contraceptives violate Catholic teaching.</p>
<p>Or we could mention Obama’s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqpr0PEGz2g">attack</a> on The Sermon on the Mount in 2006.</p>
<p>Or we could mention an especially <a href="http://www.personal.psu.edu/glm7/m421.htm">egregious incident</a>, when in 2009 Obama spoke at Georgetown University, an institution founded and run by the Jesuits – the Society of Jesus, and insisted that religious images would have to be covered when he spoke, including a cross, the school seal and the lettering &#8220;INS,&#8221; a Greek abbreviation for the name of Jesus Christ and part of the Jesuit seal.</p>
<p>Or should we mention Obama <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/07/us/obama-trying-to-add-context-to-speech-faces-backlash-over-crusades.html">equating the Crusades</a> to ISIS terrorism?</p>
<p>Oh, he’s Catholic, all right.</p>
