On Tuesday, anti-Trump protesters stormed the Heritage Foundation headquarters in Washington, D.C., taking over the lobby and chanting, “Shut it down!”
The protesters, some of whom appear to have been bused in from Chicago, chose Heritage as a target for their demonstration because it’s “Donald Trump’s think tank” — or at least that’s what activist group People’s Action claimed in a tweet. The protesters’ demands? To get “the budget we deserve,” which they made clear does not include funding for the border wall.
“We’re shutting it down at @Heritage because it continues to be @realDonaldTrump’s think tank,” tweeted People’s Action, with the hashtags “RiseUp2017” and “Budget4ThePeople.”
“We’re not afraid to demand what we deserve. We need a #Budget4ThePeople,” the group declared in another tweet. “What do we want? Water not walls!” they added.
“This sign is best art the @Heritage lobby has ever seen. We say NO to the pro-corporate agenda killing us all!” tweeted Chicago-based activist group The People’s Lobby.
