Superstar Megan Thee Stallion stepped out to throw the opening pitch in her hometown of Houston on Thursday, and while it wasn’t a strike, it was better than many other celebrities’ attempts — namely Dr. Anthony Fauci’s.
In a clip from ESPN, the 28-year-old rapper appeared at Minute Maid Park in Texas to throw out the ceremonial pitch for the Houston Astros opening game against the Chicago White Sox.

The “Savage” hitmaker walked out to the pitcher’s mound all decked out in white and wearing an Astros jersey. She first smiled and posed for the camera before taking a few steps toward home plate and throwing the baseball.
The rapper’s pitch definitely was long enough and made it to home plate, but it was just a bit outside the batter’s box. However, it wasn’t nearly as bad as some other attempts made by famous people.
In 2020, Fauci stepped out while donning a mask and attempted to throw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals game against the New York Yankees to kick off MLB’s abbreviated season during the height of the COVID pandemic.

To say it was bad would be putting it mildly, as Fauci’s pitch ended up nowhere close to home plate.
Another star who is known for scoring top hits but not necessarily his baseball skills would have to be rapper 50 Cent, who had the honor in 2014 of throwing out the ceremonial pitch at Citi Field for the New York Mets.
The rapper, born Curtis Jackson, took to the pitcher’s mound and threw his arm back in an attempt to get the ball to home plate. However, things didn’t go as planned, and, as they say, the ball was “just a bit outside” the batter’s box.

One celebrity who is probably the gold standard for throwing out ceremonial first pitches would have to be former President George W. Bush. After the Islamic terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, then-President Bush took the mound donning a FDNY jacket in Game 3 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
It is fair to say he nailed it, as he threw that ball right across home plate and got the strike. The crowd roared, and it was a tremendous morale boost to a country that was in desperate need of one following the deaths of so many Americans.
