1. CILLIZZA COVERS FOR CLINTON ‘TIL HE CAN’T
CNN’s Chris Cillizza, an alumnus of The Washington Post, sought to deride those who commented on observations of Hillary Clinton’s poor health. Days later, after video emerged of the former first lady’s collapse at a 9/11 memorial event — which was not captured by any the aforementioned news media outlets — he acknowledged what had critical observers of politics and news media had suspected for years. He presents himself as an objective and non-partisan news media figure. CNN and The Washington Post, which share informal business relationships with each other, both present themselves as politically objective and non-partisan news media outlets.
2. YOUTUBE’S LACI GREEN’s 180-DEGREE POST-ELECTION REVERSAL
Laci Green, a self-described “sex educator” and “rogue feminist,” called for nebulous national unity while under the impression that Hillary Clinton would be elected president. Her view changed following the election of Donald Trump as president and Republican majorities in both houses of Congress.
Green currently hosts a show on MTV, has 1.5 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, and has collaborated with Planned Parenthood on ostensibly educational projects.
3. THE INDEPENDENT SAYS THE ELECTION COULDN’T BE RIGGED, ‘TIL IT WAS
British news media outlet The Independent, which bills itself as “the world’s most free-thinking newspaper,” had varying takes on the “rigging” of presidential elections before and after November 8, 2016.
4. CNN SAID ELECTIONS WERE HACK-FREE UNTIL THEY WERE HACKED
Pushing back against then presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vague warning of a “rigged” political system and election, CNN ran an ostensible “fact-check” to frame America’s electoral infrastructure as beyond reproach. After Hillary Clinton’s defeat, CNN framed the presidential election as compromised by “election hacking.”
CNN presents itself as an accurate news media outlet that operates in good faith, without political biases or partisan favoritism. It describes itself as “The Most Trusted Name In News.”
5. SALON HATES GODWIN’S LAW, BUT TRUMP IS HITLER 2.0
Neo-Marxist news media outlet Salon complained about trivialization of the magnitude of Adolf Hitler and Nazism in 2007 in Glenn Greenwald’s writing, but pondered if Donald Trump amounted to a contemporary American version of the Fuhrer in 2016.
6. SLATE LIKES THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WITH OBAMA, BUT NOT WITH TRUMP
Slate‘s Richard Posner was thankful for the electoral college following Barack Obama’s electoral win in 2012. Following Donald Trump’s electoral win in 2016, however, Slate‘s Mark Stern waxed historical in framing the electoral college as perpetuating “white supremacy.”
7. MELANIA’S WHITE OUTFIT IS RACISM, BUT CLINTON’S WHITE OUTFIT IS AWESOME
The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Elizabeth Wellington fretted that Melania’s all-white outfit at the 2016 Republican National Convention was a racial signal that “white is always right.” Hillary Clinton’s all-white outfit, however, “told America loud and clear that she joyfully accepted the opportunity to run for president of the United States of America.”
8. POLITICO FRETS OVER TRUMP CLEANING HOUSE, BUT NOT OBAMA
Politico’s Josh Gerstein had a different approach toward Donald Trump’s replacement of federal attorneys than he did with Barack Obama’s similar conduct.
9. SLATE SAYS TRUMP’S A ‘MODERATE REPUBLICAN’ AND ‘FASCIST’
Slate‘s Jamelle Bouie described Donald Trump as a “moderate Republican” and “fascist” in two separate article published six days apart.
Bouie moonlights as a contributor on CBS news. His primary paradigm of political analysis is neo-Marxist racial agitation, framing blacks and “people of color” as a neo-proletariat oppressed by nebulous forces of racially-driven suppression.
10. HuffPost FLIPS ON STEAK SNOBBERY
HuffPost took differing positions on how to express one’s steak cooking preferences in two articles published three days apart.
11. CNN LIKES PAID FAMILY LEAVE ‘TIL TRUMP DOES IT
CNN published an op-ed supporting “paid family leave” prior to the Trump administration’s budget proposal to include the left-wing policy.
12. NBC HYPES FAKE NEWS ABOUT PUTIN’S ‘COMPROMISING INFORMATION’ ON TRUMP
Forwarding the narrative of Donald Trump being beholden to the Russian state via compromise (a storyline advanced aggressively by British leftist Louise Mensch), NBC News corrected and subsequently deleted a report based on its own content following critiques of its innuendo on social media.
13. CNN LIES ABOUT TRUMP BAILING ON SCALISE AT THE HOSPITAL
Following Wednesday’s attempted murder of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) by left-wing Democrat James Hodgkinson, CNN’s Jim Acosta falsely claimed that President Donald Trump neglected to visit Scalise while at the hospital where Scalise was being treated for his gunshot injury. He subsequently corrected himself.
In January, Acosta described his own conduct and that of CNN’s more broadly as a “dogged pursuit of the truth.”
In April, Acosta decried Trump’s criticisms of CNN as “[doing] real damage” to the First Amendment, implying that undermining the credibility of left-wing and Democrat-aligned news media outlets amounts to an undermining of the Constitution.
Acosta presents himself an politically objective and non-partisan news media figure.
