The hosts of ABC’s midday talk show “The View” devolved into chaos around the table over the anti-Israel “un-committed” protest votes cast in Michigan’s Democratic primary election on Tuesday.

The hosts were responding to the fact that just over 13% of Michigan Democrats — encouraged by anti-Israel elected officials like Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — chose to leave their vote uncommitted rather than back President Joe Biden over his support for Israel in the war against the terror group Hamas.

Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the discussion by saying that Democrats certainly had the right to vote for another candidate, but she argued that those who chose to leave their vote “uncommitted” were somehow trampling on the voting rights of others.

Joy Behar agreed and then referenced a comment from Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) — who claimed that if former President Donald Trump were still in office, he might have “nuked Gaza.”

“It’s not that farfetched because he’s crazy,” Behar insisted.

Co-host Sunny Hostin defended the anti-Israel protest vote, saying they were using their votes to make a point and should be allowed to do that. “They’re not sitting on the couch,” she said. “These are protest votes.”

Goldberg pushed back, claiming that by not supporting Biden they were effectively “sitting” on their couches.

Co-host Sara Haines weighed in then, saying that she felt like the Biden administration had probably gotten the message that Michigan voters were trying to send. She went on to say that by supporting Israel even when it wasn’t popular with everyone in his own party, Biden was effectively saying, “I know what’s right here and I’m going to stand true to that even in an election year.”

Hostin pushed back again, saying that Biden risked losing the anti-Israel vote in Michigan if he did not dial back his administration’s support for Israel in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attacks.

Hostin went on to predict a change in policy from the White House, noting that Secretary of State Antony Blinken has indicated a push for a ceasefire as early as next week. She went on to complain that the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations had been the deciding vote — a veto — on a resolution demanding a ceasefire.

Haines pushed back, noting that the United Nations itself was under scrutiny because members of the UN’s Palestinian aid organization UNRWA had participated in the October 7 attacks.

“Now the UN is under attack?” Hostin asked, rolling her eyes.

“The UN has a long history of having more resolutions against Israel than North Korea and Iran and some of the worst human rights abusers on the planet,” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out. “Her point, the ambassador’s point is, ‘I’m not voting for a ceasefire until the hostages are released.'”
